Map of King's Landing

Storyline

King's Landing is sinds Aegon's Verovering het centrum van de macht in Westeros. De jonge Targaryen koning Aegon the Conqueror veroverde Westeros samen met zijn queen-sisters en hun draken. Nu heersen zij vanuit de hoofdstad over het continent. Aan het hof van de Targaryen's verblijven de machtigste adelijken van het land, samen met hun hofhouding.

Nu, één jaar na de verovering van heel Westeros, is de grote zaal van de Red Keep rijk versierd met Targaryen-banners, drakenmotieven en weelderige bloemstukken. De zaal wordt gevuld met muziek terwijl adellijke families samenkomen om de eenwording van Westeros onder Targaryen-heerschappij te vieren. Ter ere van het éénjarig jubileum van Aegon's Verovering wordt een debutantenbal georganiseerd. Dit bal dient als een gelegenheid om huwbare edelen te presenteren voor potentiële huwelijken, waarmee allianties worden gesmeed en de stabiliteit van het nieuwe rijk wordt versterkt.

Regels van het Hof

Deze regels helpen om de orde, respect en veiligheid binnen het Targaryen hof te handhaven en zorgen ervoor dat het hofleven soepel en volgens protocol verloopt:

Basisinformatie

Deze RPG speelt zich af aan het hof in King's Landing, ongeveer 300 jaar voor de gebeurtenissen in "House of the Dragon".

Situatie voor Aegon's Vervovering - De Zeven Regerende Families

Vóór Aegon's Verovering (ook bekend als Aegon's Conquest) waren er verschillende grote huizen die over de Zeven Koninkrijken van Westeros heersten. Elke regio had zijn eigen heersende huis:

• Kingdom of the North (Het Noorden) - Het Huis Stark regeerde als koningen van het Noorden vanuit Winterfell.
• Kingdom of the Mountain and the Vale (De Vale) - Het Huis Arryn heerste over de Vale van Arryn.
• Kingdom of the Isles and Rivers (De Rivierenlanden) - Het Huis Hoare (House Hoare) regeerde over de Rivierenlanden vanuit Harrenhal.
• Kingdom of the Rock (De Westlanden) - Het Huis Lannister was het heersende huis in de Westlanden vanuit Casterly Rock.
• Kingdom of the Stormlands (De Stormlanden) - Het Huis Durrandon regeerde over de Stormlanden vanuit Storm's End.
• Kingdom of the Reach (Het Bereik) - Het Huis Gardener was de heersende dynastie in het Bereik vanuit Highgarden.
• Princedom of Dorne (Dorne) - Dorne werd geregeerd door verschillende vorstenhuizen, zoals het Huis Martell vanuit Sunspear.

Situatie na Aegon's Vervovering - Targaryen heerschappij

Na Aegon's Conquest waren er geen onafhankelijke koningen meer in de Zeven Koninkrijken van Westeros. Na Aegon's Conquest werden alle eerdere koninkrijken verenigd onder de heerschappij van de Targaryens. De titels van koning werden afgeschaft voor alle regionale heersers behalve voor de koning op de IJzeren Troon, dat is Aegon momenteel. Hij heert samen met zijn twee sisterqueens Visenya and Rhaenys. ~~Ja ze zijn siblings en met elkaar getrouwd.~~ De oude regionale heersers dienden als leenmannen van de Targaryen-koningen. De belangrijkste leenmannen van Aegon de Veroveraar waren:

• House Stark - Lords van Winterfell en het Noorden.
• House Arryn - Lords van de Vale van Arryn.
• House Lannister - Lords van Casterly Rock en de Westlanden.
• House Baratheon - Lords van Storm's End en de Stormlanden.
• House Gardener - Lords van Highgarden en het Bereik (voor hun ondergang in de Field of Fire).
• House Martell - Lords van Sunspear en Dorne (na hun vredige overgave).

Deze huizen, samen met andere regionale heersers, erkenden Aegon als hun koning nadat hij met zijn draken en legers Westeros had veroverd. Ze behielden een mate van autonomie in hun respectievelijke regio's, maar waren verplicht om Aegon te dienen en belastingen en troepen bij te dragen wanneer dat nodig was.

Personages

Rollen kunnen een highborn of een lowborn inwoner van King's Landing zijn. Ze kunnen zowel uit Westeros als Essos afkomstig zijn, al zullen de meeste leden van het hof afkomstig zijn uit Westeros.

High borns

Als hooggeborene ben je een lid van de adel en speel je een belangrijke rol aan het hof. Je kan een lid zijn van de Targaryen familie of een van de andere adelijke families in Westeros. Je kunt, maar dat hoeft niet, een van de volgende posities bekleden:

• ~~Hand van de Koning~~ - De belangrijkste adviseur en rechterhand van de koning, beheert de dagelijkse zaken van het koninkrijk.
• ~~Meester van de Wetten~~ - Toezicht op de handhaving van wetten en het beheer van gerechtigheid.
• Meester van de Munt - Beheert de financiën en schatkist van het koninkrijk, zorgt voor economische stabiliteit.
• Meester van Schepen - Verantwoordelijk voor de koninklijke marine en de verdediging van de kustlijnen van het koninkrijk.
• ~~Meester van Whisperers~~ - Verantwoordelijk voor inlichtingen en spionage, verzamelt informatie ter bescherming van het rijk.
• Lord Commander van de Kingsguard - Leidt de elite Kingsguard, zorgt voor de veiligheid van de koninklijke familie.
• Hoge Septoon - De hoogste religieuze figuur, biedt spirituele leiding en houdt toezicht op religieuze ceremonies.
• Warden - Adellijke heren die verantwoordelijk zijn voor de veiligheid en het beheer van specifieke regio's (~~Noord~~, Oost, Zuid, West).
• Hofdames - Adellijke vrouwen die de koningin en prinsessen dienen, hen assisteren met verschillende taken en gezelschap bieden.

Domeric Bolton werd geboren in een van de meest beruchte en gevreesde huizen van het Noorden, een familie bekend om hun wreedheid en het huiveringwekkende gebruik van het flayen van hun vijanden. Domeric, nu 33 jaar oud, heeft een leven geleid dat getekend is door oorlog, verlies en wraak. Domeric groeide op in de schaduw van zijn sadistische vader, die hem van jongs af aan leerde hoe te overleven en te heersen met een ijzeren vuist. Zijn jeugd was hard en meedogenloos, gevuld met straffen en harde lessen. Hij werd uiteindelijk uitgehuwelijkt aan een vrouw van een nabijgelegen huis, een huwelijk dat bedoeld was om bondgenootschappen te versterken. Zijn vrouw, echter, was iemand die hij verachtte. Domeric leed aan wat nu bekend zou staan als posttraumatische stressstoornis (PTSS). Hij werd geplaagd door nachtmerries en flashbacks van de veldslagen en de martelingen die hij had uitgevoerd. Om met zijn trauma om te gaan, wendde Domeric zich tot alcohol. Hij verdrong zijn herinneringen en schuldgevoelens met grote hoeveelheden bier en zocht vaak nieuwe gevechten op om zijn innerlijke demonen te sussen. Zijn haat voor de Starks, een oude vijand van zijn huis, brandde fel in hem. Elke kans die hij kreeg om hen schade toe te brengen, greep hij met beide handen aan.

Nu, een jaar na Aegons verovering, is Domeric in King's Landing. Hij zoekt een nieuwe vrouw, iemand die hem eindelijk de erfgenaam kan geven die hij zo wanhopig wil. Tegelijkertijd houdt hij zijn ogen open voor mogelijke conflicten, vooral met de Stark pup.

House Dayne is a house of landed knights from High Hermitage in Dorne. They pledge fealty to House Martell. After Aegon's Conquest, Ser Emrys became Lord Commander and changed their fealty to the Targaryen Dynasty, much to the dismay of their House.

O C C U P A T I O N

Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. The Lord Commander commands the other six knights of the Sworn Brotherhood of the Kingsguard and is a member of the small council.

I N N E R

Loyal, trusting, always straight-faced but loves to laugh, takes their role and oath very seriously, feels like a fraud, patient, gambler, swallowed by guilt, ashamed, very religious, respectful, acknowledges authority, quiet, romantic soul.

Emrys is a decent person. They are loyal, helpful, respectful ... all the things a good knight should be. They enjoyed a good upbringing, so Emrys knows a lot of their qualities are thanks to the Martells.
Emrys also enjoys a good laugh. They think laughing cleanses the spirit and one should do it as often as possible. Emrys isn't the jokester at the table really, they much prefer to be the recipient of jokes and thus enjoy being around loud people. As long as it means they shouldn't talk too much.
Emrys is a quiet person. Despite their occupation, which often means they have to shout loud orders or speak up at the Small Council, they don't love to talk. It's partly due to their voice, which is higher than other men, and the Dornish accent which often throws people off.
If you don't know Emrys well, you would assume they are stoic and cold. When wearing the white cloak, they're always straight-faced and serious. This is because Emrys takes the Kingsguard Oath extremely serious. Their loyalty to the King knows no bounds, they would actually die for their King - and in extension, the King's family.
Despite this, Emyrs struggles a lot with self-doubt, and self-inflicted guilt and shame. The fear of failing another person they're supposed to protect, is sometimes so paralyzing it makes it hard for Emrys to get up in the morning. But every day, they strive towards proving that they are capable of this job.
Emrys finds a lot of comfort in religion. During off-times, they are often seen visiting the Great Sept atop Visenya's Hill. They aren't very vocal about their beliefs, nor would they ever push the Faith unto others. Emrys simply found a lot of comfort in Septs across Westeros, and in believing in something bigger than himself during the War. They're mostly lighting candles for the Warrior and the Stranger.
Few people know Emrys struggles with gambling. It started out with a small bet, which turned into a small debt, which then turned into bigger bets and now it's progressed far enough that they can agree it's become a problem.
Lastly, and despite it all, Emrys is a romantic soul at heart. They haven't acted on any romantic impulses since being knighted Lord Commander - yet it stays in them, buzzing, wanting to come out. They ache for connection, even though they find a lot of fulfillment in their task as protector to the King. It can be a lonely job, with long days; and sometimes, just sometimes, it makes Emrys want for another person to call his home.

H I S T O R Y

Emrys was born in High Hermitage in Dorne as a child of a landed knight and their wife. This meant Emrys was born of low nobility and wouldn't have many options in their future.
They were send to Sunspear at age seven to serve Princess Marella Martell as a lady-in-waiting, but when they arrived there - small, frail, short haired child - it was immediately clear Emrys wasn't made for that life.
House Dayne and Martell instead made an arrangement to let Emrys train as a page and squire instead, first to Prince Ryon, but with the intention of training them to become the Princess' sworn sword.
And so it was done. No one spoke of Emrys' birthname or gender anymore. They were now simply Emrys Dayne of High Hermitage, knight-to-be.
Emrys loved Sunspear and the Martell's court. It very quickly became his home, more so than High Hermitage ever had been. They felt at ease at there, all the while taking their duties and responsibilities very seriously. Even though no one treated them different for their past, Emrys still felt a disconnection with their peers growing up. The other squires, and later knights, often went out on boyish adventures - like pissing contests, and whore houses and flirting with ladies - and Emrys felt unable to join those.
Emrys loyalty to the Prince and Princess remained unwavering until their deaths. Emrys knew they owned their entire existence to the Martells and felt indebted to them. It was for this reason they had pledged themself as a sworn sword to Marella Martell.
When the Prince and Princess died at sea, Emrys blamed themself entirely. They'd had one job and they'd failed, miserably. The shame and guilt they felt was so overpowering, it prohibited them to return to Dorne. Instead, Emrys was able to join a travelling group of knights to the crownlands. After a few months, they gained the trust of House Rosby and were able to remain at their court until Aegon's Landing.
When Aegon and his sisterwives landed in the crownlands to begin their Conquest, House Rosby immediately surrendered to Rhaenys. After that, Emrys fought for the Targaryens until the end of the war. Their efforts and bravery got rewarded with being knighted Lord Commander, after the death of the previous one.
Even though they'd originally rejected the offer, it turned out to be too great of a honor to simply turn down. They are still new in their role, trying to adjust to the seniority of it, all the while feeling like a fraud in the armor and white cloak. The guilt of failing the Martells and the shame of running away after the tragedy, continues to loom over Emrys like a dark cloud.

O T H E R

◇ They enjoy gambling, drinking, just generally having a good time after hours with their friends.
◇ They still speak with a Dornish accent, which often makes them receive looks of mistrust.
◇ Due to the severe dysmorphia - as we would call it, Emrys would probably just call it 'uncomfortableness and itchiness' - they experience out of armor, Emrys shies away from sexual physical contact. When they took the Oath to become Lord Commander, this included chastity, so the problem solved itself. Emrys is very faithful to this Oath.
◇ They are very religious and follow the Faith of the Seven strictly.
◇ After their departure from Dorne, they have gotten very attached to their new circle of friends in Kingslanding - their own found family.

R E L A T I O N S

◇ Nehemia • mysaria
Emrys and Nehemia were childhood friends turned childhood lovers turned heartbreak and betrayal. During Emrys' training at Sunspear, the two often got to spend time together as children. Emrys even taught her how to fight. Eventhough, there is an age difference, Emrys never truly felt the weight of it when they were with Nehemia. Being near her, made them feel light and easy.
After Emrys got knighted at Sunspear, they swore themselves as a protector to Princess Marella Martell, Nehemia's mother. At that point Emrys was still young, not entirely ready for what was to happen. And to make matters even worse, they fell in love with Nehemia and she with them. Emrys had always been aware that nothing serious could ever happen, because she was a Princess, in line for the Dornish throne, and they were hardly a real knight.
Real tragedy struck when the Martells ship sank and the Prince and Princess died. Emrys was the sole survivor of the shipwreck. They felt unable to face Nehemia; the shame and guilt was too overpowering. The fact that Nehemia was a copy of her mothers beauty, didn't help either. In Emrys' mind, Nehemia would shun them out, cast them away and it was too painful to bear.
So they left Dorne and now serve at Aegon's court. Emrys hasn't seen her since and is trying his most to avoid her presence in King's Landing for the debutante ball now too.

◇ Valerion • Helaena
Emrys likes most people - but that doesn't include Valerion. Maybe it was the jousting tourney pre-war times that did it, where Valerion tripped Emrys' horse and the latter was nearly gravely wounded. Or maybe it's simply the mental torture Valerion likes to put Emrys through on a daily basis. Emrys is also very aware that Valerion simple doesn't think them capable of being Lord Commander, which isn't a good basis for a friendship. Either way, the two of them aren't to be left alone in the same room for longer than a couple minutes. For everyone's sake.

◇ Rhaegar • mysaria
These two have been friends since the Conquest; their band of brothers got heavily diminished during those two years, but luckily they always had each other. Rhaegar had been Master of Dragons long before Emrys was Lord Commander, but that didn't matter on the battlefield.
These days, they can be found confiding in each other, sharing old war stories or stories of fallen friends. A calm, quiet sort of friendship, needed after years of anguish.

◇ Visenya • eternalsunshine
Emrys holds a lot of respect for their princess. They think she's very smart and capable - unlike her brother-nephew, and appreciate her voice at the table of the Small Council; often offering great perspectives and good input for so young a person. In return, Emrys also feels respected by her, which they consider a great honor. They feel heard and appreciated at the Small Council by their princess.
Emrys only has to bite their tongue when Visenya speaks ill of Dorne - a small sacrifice but one that often leaves them a bit uncomfortable for a while.

◇ Domeric • eternalsunshine
Emrys first got acquainted with Lyra Bolton, long before they met Domeric. The unlikely pair became quick friends by attending the same dinnerparties and jousting tourneys before the Conquest even began. Emrys had the displeasure of meeting her husband at the battle camps during the War, and by then they already knew about Lyra's plans to leave her husband. Emrys had supported her in that decision and had offered insights, but sadly she died before those plans could be executed.
Domeric is still unaware of these plans and Emrys would like it to remain this way - for their own safety. They are polite to Dom whenever in his present, but knowing what they know about the man's personality, a friendship is unlikely.

◇ Emylia • Helaena
Emrys had the pleasure of meeting Mya at the Sept in King's Landing, before the War took place. Seated beside each other during a mass, they quickly discovered their similar respect for religion and quietness. Their short conversation after the service ended, sealed the connection for them.
After that, whenever Emrys travelled to King's Landing from Rosby, they made the effort to pay Emylia a visit.
He missed her dearly when they went to war, and afterwards, something in Emrys had changed due to his experiences on the battlefield, and their relationship with Mya suffered.
Nowadays, they are still friends and often go on walks together. Mya reads Emrys stories and makes them little gifts, and in return Emrys took it upon themselves to also be Mya's protector - although that's very scary for them. Not like a physical bodyguard, because Emrys is certain Mya is capable of standing up for herself, but more in spirit and with words; often giving her a pat on the back, or some words of courage in difficult situations.
Emrys also knows Mya is grateful that they looked out for her brother, Raden, during the war. Emrys feels awkward about the way she hold them on a pedestal for it, since they don't think the honor is entirely theirs. Everyone looked out for each other during the war, it was war. But they can also understand how someone who didn't fight in it, wouldn't understand.
Emrys holds a lot of respect for Mya too. Her heroic efforts to save that child from the dragon, for example, is a story they like to tell. Her kind heart and bravery are an example to everyone in King's Landing and Emrys includes themselves in that statement. They enjoy Emylia's company because of this, and feel very at ease in her presence.

◇ Tamas (so actually Valhan) • Valkyria
Emrys only recently had the pleasure of meeting the son of the Braavos' Sealord on the training fields of the Keep. They've sparred against each other for fun a few times during the time the Braavosi men have been in King's Landing. Emrys enjoyed their sword fighting sessions and found in Tamas a worthwhile opponent, but they're also very aware of the fact they could easily hurt such an important guest.

◇ Valhan (so actually Tamas) • Valkyria
The bodyguard of the Braavos' Sealord is a lot more talkative than his master - and Emrys and Valhan have had a few conversations on the cultural differences between Westeros and Essos.

◇ Celia • Madwoman
The friendly atmosphere between Celia and Emrys is entirely forged by political interests. Emrys doesn't really know what to think of the Lion-woman, nor do they have the impression that feeling isn't mutual. They are polite in each other presence, especially whenever Visenya is present, yet there is a lingering distrust.

◇ Cedrick • Madwoman
Emrys and Cedrick met at a hunt hosted by Houses Rosby and Stark before the Conquest. Emrys took an immediate liking to the rowdy, loud, funny Wild Wolf. They spend a couple of evening around a campfire during the hunt, sharing wine, stories and laughter. It took a turn on the last night, when Cedrick was so drunk he began shouting rude nonsense.
Emrys laments how that time ended, but is also a little enthusiastic to see Cedrick again after all these years - in the hope they could rekindle their friendship.

◇ Lethia • mysaria
Emrys first met the red-headed woman during the Conquest, when Lethia joined the Targaryens at the war camps. They'd heard of the woman Rhaenys was enamored by and after seeing her perform, they understood entirely. It was Lethia who taught Emrys to dance on night - before the battles got too hard and everything got to dark. The music and joy she brought the soldiers, Emrys would eternally be grateful for.
They stayed on friendly basis after the Conquest, though the dance lessons stopped. Nowadays, they still find each other at balls to stay as far away from the dancefloor as possible.

STORMSEEKER
Stormseeker is a female, shimmering blue dragon. She's a bit of a princess, as she does not like to hunt her own sheep (thanks Caraxes for doing this for her). A fiery, rebel princess at that, though, as she loves flying through storms.

C L A I M I N G
When Rhaegar was four years old, he had a little argument with Rhaenys, as he was not allowed to go see the dragons that day. It ended with Rhaenys frustratingly saying "why don't you just go sleep with the dragons then?".
When bedtime came around, the castle erupted in chaos as the young boy could not be found anywhere. Rhaenys was growing desperate and close to tears to where her little boy had gone to, while the sky outside grew darker. Eventually, a timid servant spoke up, saying that they should perhaps check the dragonpit, having overheard the conversation between Rhaenys and Rhaegar earlier that day.
And it was the dragonpit where they found Rhaegar, sound a sleep, tucked under Stormseeker's wing. His stuffed dragon tightly clutched to his chest. The dragon would not let them closer to Rhaegar at first, snarling at them and huffing balls of fire. It was only after a long while that Stormseeker let Rhaenys come closer, to take Rhaegar back into the castle.It was clear to everyone that Rhaegar and Stormseeker had bonded that night.

L O O K S
Rhaegar has ethereal, angelic features that artists yearn to paint and musicians write songs about. His face has softness in his lips and eyes. Yet, there is sharpness to be found in his high cheekbones and chiseled jawline.
Just as his family, he has the trademark Valyrian light blonde hair (lighter than in the photos, use your imagination[/s]) and violet eyes, his having the colour of the purple forget-me-nots flowers. His blonde locks often fall into eyes. When he was younger, he kept it longer, but he found the long strands to be suffocating around his throat. His blonde hair has a golden undertone rather than a silvery one, which almost gives off the image as if he is wearing a halo on his head, especially in the light of the sun.
He is rather tall, standing at 1.87 meters, with a slender and fit body. Recently, his cheeks have gotten more hollow and it is obvious that he has lost some weight.
The war did not leave him without any physical scars. They can be found all over his body.

Rhaegar used to be relieved and happy that his hair and eyes have the same colouring as his family. However, he is resenting it more and more, as it makes it near impossible for him to just vanish in the crowd or just runaway (see history).

⚔︎ The romantic connection between Rhaenys Targaryen and Daemon Velaryon can hardly be called a love affair, as it was well known between the two families. Rhaegar was the result of this. Both families were genuinely happy and overjoyed with the little boy's arrival, the first baby of the families. Yet, with that also lay the problem: he would be the oldest child on both sides. Daemon could therefore not legitimize Rhaegar as his son, as potential bastards of his own father, could then also make a claim to his seat. Rhaenys (and the other Targaryens) had the same issue on their side. Thus, though it is common knowledge that Rhaegar is the child of Rhaenys and Daemon and he never had any shortages of love, he never was claimed by Daemon as one of his to prevent any political issues.
⚔︎ With Rhaenys' being Aegon's favourite, Aegon was not that thrilled that everyone was so excited about the baby boy. He himself even easily could've claimed Rhaegar as his (as the Targaryens and Velaryons are similar in their characteristic looks), but refused to do so as he wanted one of his own on the throne. Though, as Rhaenys was so dear to him and the Velaryons were close family friends and allies, there was not much he could do about it. He has never been openly hostile to Rhaegar, but would ignore him when there is no family around.
⚔︎ Daemon and Rhaenys both did their upmost best to include Rhaegar in both of their families and looked for ways to give Rhaegar an official title as Lord somewhere, but they never managed to actually get that far.
⚔︎ The entire castle is currently bustling with both excitement and stress, because of the events organised by Princess Visenya. Rhaegar isn't sharing this feeling with the others and he is rather dreading. He isn't entirely sure what to do with himself. In a time where political alliances and strengthening bonds are of upmost important to his family, he feels utterly useless. Which lady of importance would want to marry a bastard, even if it is a royal one? This feeling of uselessness and worthlessness to his family is only adding further to his depression and anxiety (see below).

⚔︎ Though a bastard, Rhaenys insisted that Rhaegar would receive the same education as the other children, much the Aegon's annoyance.
⚔︎ In his classes, Rhaegar proved himself to what could've been an admirable ruler. One that is just and fair, striving for peace whenever possible.

⚔︎ In his teenage years, he spend several months at the time on ships and at sea, at the wishes of his father, Daemon.

A E G O N S C O N Q U E S T
⚔︎ He fought during Aegon's Conquest with Stormseeker. Despite having Stormseeker, Rhaegar did not use her for every battle he was in. He only used her when he was sure she was well fed and well rested, not wanting to put her in harms way otherwise. When he did ride on her during battle, he preferred to focus on burning down the other Houses their weapon stock or other supply storages they might have, rather than burning down their soldiers. He saw the latter as unnecessarily cruel and costing lives that didn't need to be taken. It torments him that he was not always able to prevent this from happening.
⚔︎ When not riding Stormseeker, Rhaegar still joined the battle, but then on solid ground. He had always been a good swordsman. Not the best one around, but a merciful one. Whenever possible, he would leave an enemy soldier laying on the ground to bleed out, but would deliver a killing blow, before he moved on in the battle field, offering a swift death, rather than a slow and tortuous one.
⚔︎ His father died during the battle in the waters off Gulltown.

D E P R E S S I O N
⚔︎ His mind did not leave the war unscathed. He saw many of his friends die in front of his eyes and carries immens feelings of guilt that he was not able to save them, despite having his dragon.
⚔︎ He spends much of his time in the dragonpit, it having become an unhealthy fixation and the only thing that he seemingly wants to do. Visenya is one of the few people that can convince him to go do something else with her.
⚔︎ His anxiety has increased in tenfold.
⚔︎ Rhaegar sleeps extremely badly, as he suffers from nightterrors. He tends to sleep a bit better when he is sleeping in the dragonpit, next to Stormseeker, which he tries to do a few time per week (if he is not dragged out by Rhaenys or Visenya).

House Hoare of Orkmont, also known as the black line, or the black blood, became Kings of the Iron Islands after Andal settlers on the islands ended the rule of House Greyiron. While the Hoares originally came from Orkmont, they also built Hoare Castle on Great Wyk, but eventually moved to Fairmarket and Harrenhal in the riverlands, where they ruled as Kings of the Isles and the Rivers for three generations.
The Hoare banner depicted a gold longship on black, a dark green pine on white, a cluster of red grapes on gold, and a black raven flying in a blue sky, separated by iron chains. The sigil represented the distant lands that had been under the rule of the house: the longship for the Iron Islands, the green pine for Bear Island, the grape cluster for the Arbor, and the black raven for the maesters of Oldtown; all bound by the iron chains of the ironmen.

His entire family was murdered by Aegon after Lord Harren Hoare refused to bend the knee during the Conquest. Aegon burned them by flying over Harrenhal with his dragon. Most of Harren's supporters were killed in the burning of Harrenhal or by river lords as they retreated back to Ironman's Bay, and Aegon granted rule over the riverlands to House Tully of Riverrun.
The building of the castle of Harrenhal had left the Hoares with multiple debts, one of which they'd payed with Qhomir. Young Qhomir, as the third son, had been taken in by the Greyjoys as a ward - a hostage until payment. However, it took the Hoares so long to make the payment, Qhomir was just raised as a Greyjoy by the House instead. Somewhere around his 14th birthday, they gave him the new name Aeron. It was this name-change that saved him from Aegons wrath during the War - since most people had simply forgotten that Qhomir wasn't in fact a Greyjoy, but a Hoare.
Ever since the Conquest ended, the riverlands and Iron Islands have been left in ruin and despair - with poverty, famine and fighting among Houses at its core. Qhomir volunteered himself to attend the debutante ball in honor of the Lord Paramount Tully - with the hope of an audience with the King, to speak about the desperate situation of the Trident.
Despite being treated as a son by the Lord Vickon Greyjoy, and thus being the eldest of his sons, Qhomir will never be able to lay claim to the castle of Pyke, nor to Vickons lordship. His adoptive father's heir remains his true firstborn, Goren. This has resulted in Qhomir being treated as a bastard by servants and knights at the castle.
By order of his adoptive father, Qhomir married Gwin Blacktyde five years ago. The marriage was loveless, but not without respect. They were both content with spending a life away from each other. Qhomir enjoyed this understanding with his wife, alas she died during the birth of their second son Joron. Qhomir's sons are now being raised by his adoptive mother and sister at Pyke. He has yet to remarry, but does not intend to in the near future.
Due to the constant bullying he had to endure, Qhomir has taken residency in the ruined castle of Harrenhal after the end of the Conquest.

O T H E R

☩ He likes to collect people and things; not slaves. Everyone he wants to recruit, he asks for permission and consent. Since these are mostly smallfolk, they often have no other choice to agree - be it because of famine and poverty, or because they are orphans or widows. The people he collects are always folk who can offer him something in exchange for food, work and a roof over their head. This includes excellent cooks, huntsmen, seamstresses but also singers, poets and painters.
He doesn't collect people for sexual reasons, though there are a few who consent to that. Those few he tends to experiment with - with chaining them up, or them chaining him up, whips or candle wax. Qhomir always makes them sign a consent paper though, and some even enjoy it.
☩ He often resides in the ruins of Harrenhal, which have been dubbed 'cursed' by the Tully's. No house goes near it and this works perfectly for Qhomir.

Bastards from the Reach are called 'Flowers', so her name told anyone who would meet the child all they needed to know. In the castle, people will know the name Kira and use it to address the girl. This name will be known to her superiors. Everyone she meets, she will introduce herself to as Kira.

Initially, Thorns' nickname was roses. The men she served in the inn thought she smelled like them and called her “sweet as a rose,” “beautiful as a rose,” and “fragile as a rose.” Her friendly and innocent face attracted many men to the inn who were happy to be served and occasionally innocently flirted with the girl. Thorns had no problem with them, but once a man went too far. When he tried to put his hand up her skirt, Thorns got angry. He laughed and said: ''What is wrong, roses, be a sweet little girl and turn around.'' What made the girl loose her temper. She answered: ''well, I might look sweet, but roses have Thorns,'' proceeding to hit him with her tray and hit his face with a glass bottle, which broke and damaged his eye forever. Thorns then stuck, as a hint not to mess with the girl. Everyone who ever set foot in the popular inn knows this and now Thorns is more commonly used than Kira. On the streets, Thorns is also known as Thorns.

Zij werd gevraagd om na haar avonddienst te verschijnen in het kantoor van de dame waar hij op haar wachtte. Hij zei het zonder medeleven: haar moeder was overleden tijdens haar dienst voor de kroon. Het was nu de plicht van Thorns om de plaats van haar moeder aan het hof in te nemen. Wat dit betrof of waarvoor ze nodig was, werd niet verteld, behalve dat Thorns meteen een afspraak had met de maester of Whispers. Deze legde uit dat, tijdens de verovering, haar moeder Aegon I en zijn zussen had gediend als spion. Thorns wordt beschreven als een jong uitziend meisje, soms zelfs jonger dan haar werkelijke leeftijd. Ze is klein, ongeveer 163 cm lang. Haar haar is lang, rood en golvend, altijd netjes in een knot gezet. Thorns heeft een blanke huid, bruine ogen en roze, dunne lippen. Ze heeft een klein lichaam en ziet er schijnbaar zwak uit, ook al kan ze behoorlijk hard slaan en kan ze gemakkelijk van alles een wapen maken. Onder haar jurk draagt ze altijd een mes bij haar sokken, voor geval van nood. Ze draagt meestal haar werkuniform. Haar meest waardevolle bezit is een ketting met een roos die ze als kind van haar moeder kreeg. Het is echt goud en eigenlijk veel waard. Haar moeder verkocht hem nooit, omdat ze deze ketting graag ooit aan Thorns wilde geven. Thorns draagt hem sinds haar zestiende verjaardag dagelijks.

Vanaf de dag dat Thorns voet aan het hof zette, had ze de zwerfkat al gevoerd. De zwerfkat hing blijkbaar altijd rond in de keuken, maar het leek alsof Thorns de eerste was die ooit aandacht aan hem besteedde. Thorns gaven hem alles wat ze maar kon missen, en zo zijn de twee onafscheidelijke vrienden geworden. Thorns is het typische 18-jarige meisje die nog denkt dat heel de wereld aan haar voeten staat. Ze is niet bang om haar mond open te trekken, gaat graag er op uit buiten het kasteel in haar eentje om kattenkwaad uit te halen, is nog steeds heel avontuurlijk en speels, maar heeft ook een aandachtsspan van.... Hey, vlinder! Door haar aandachtsspan is het nooit saai met haar, sinds ze je altijd mee kan slepen in nieuwe avonturen en altijd komt met wat nieuws. De prater moet nog leren te kalmeren, sinds ze nog wel eens sarcastisch uit de hoek kan komen of iets doet voordat ze denkt, maar ze kan ook heel erg enthousiast zijn. Ze is het type persoon dat overwinningsdansjes doet, klapt als ze enthousiast of blij is en kan rondspringen van vreugde. Thorns is het soort persoon dat nog steeds geluk of iets positiefs kan vinden als alles om haar heen donker wordt, ze kan altijd iets vinden om anderen aan het lachen te maken en dat is wat haar charmant maakt. Ze is erg vrolijk, gevuld met geluk en vriendelijkheid. Ze is blij met wat ze heeft, maar kan gelukkiger gevonden worden op een feestje nadat ze een paar drankjes heeft gedronken en zich kan ontspannen of wanneer ze een nachtwandeling kan maken. Thorns is het soort mens dat absoluut niet stil kan zitten, absoluut niet van stilte kan genieten en altijd bezig moet blijven. Ze zal altijd een manier vinden om zichzelf op de een of andere manier nuttig te maken en heeft er een hekel aan om nutteloos te zijn. Soms kan ze genieten van de rust, na een fijne dag hard werken. Ze probeert altijd te leren of is natuurlijk bezig met haar werk, dus het spioneren.

❖ Baelor Hightower, eerstgeboren zoon van Lord Manfred Hightower, erfgenaam van alles, zou trouwen met een dame van het huis Gardener. De nacht voor deze bruiloft ging hij met zijn broers naar een bordeel. Hij bracht de nacht door met Narcissa en één nacht met haar deed hem alles vergeten. De volgende dag annuleerde hij zijn bruiloft en stuurde alle geschenken die hij had ontvangen en alle gasten die waren gekomen terug. Hij was verliefd geworden op Narcissa en was van plan met haar te trouwen. Hij kwam vaak terug naar het bordeel om haar te zien en ze kwamen er al snel achter dat Narcissa zwanger was. Hij aarzelde geen seconde en deed een aanzoek, maar dit maakte zijn familie boos. Door hem waren de Gardeners woedend, de straten van Oldtown fluisterden dat de erfgenaam gek was geworden en alles wat Baelor deed bracht alleen maar schande over hun familie, dus de heer deed afstand van zijn zoon. Op zijn weg terug van het bordeel naar de hightower werd Baelor Hightower uit zijn koets gesleurd en doodgestoken, net zoals zijn ridders en alle andere getuigen die er maar konden zijn. Narcissa bleef alleen achter, met loze beloften en het gevoel dat ze binnenkort zou bevallen.
❖ Narcissa Spyre kreeg gelijk, Thorns werd een maand later geboren. Een van de broers van Baelor beloofde dat de vrouw alsnog betaald zou krijgen en dat haar kind erkend zou worden, misschien uit schuldgevoel? Maar daar kwam niets van terecht. Narcissa verloor haar baan, omdat een baby niet in het bordeel kon worden opgevoed. Ze wilde Thorns niet ergens in de handen van het onbekende achterlaten en al snel kwamen er ridders op haar deur kloppen. Ze realiseerde zich dat Oldtown niet veilig was en besloot de stad te verlaten.
❖ Highgarden was haar eerste bestemming waar het gezinnetje een tijdje woonde met een andere vrouw die ze kende van het bordeel. Deze vrouw was recentelijk ook met één van haar oude klanten getrouwd, een rijke, maar erg oude man. Narcissa werd hier een dienstmeisje en ze woonden hier tot Thorns drie was, totdat de man stierf en de vrouw werd beschuldigd en opgehangen voor moord. Toen er verdenkingen ontstonden dat Narcissa en haar vriendin het samen hadden beraamd, vluchtten ze opnieuw.
❖ Ze woonden een jaar lang in een kamer van een herberg in Goldengrove met wat geld dat Narcissa van haar vriendin had gestolen, maar al snel was het geld op en moest de huur betaald worden. Toen al gauw bleek dat de vrouw dat niet kon, werd Narcissa met Thorns meteen op straat gezet, bedelend om geld en aan hun lot overgelaten. Ze woonden daar nog eens twee jaar, soms slapend in het huis van een vreemde, soms op koude stenen midden in de stad. Op een avond bood een man aan om hun reis naar Tumbleton te betalen als hij één nacht met Narcissa mocht doorbrengen. De vrouw accepteerde dit aanbod, omdat ze nergens anders heen kon. Goldengrove was klein en kon haar niets meer bieden. Hij was wreed, maar hij hield zijn beloften. Ze vertrokken die ochtend onmiddellijk. Thorns was nu zes jaar oud, toen ze al leerde hoe het is om niets te hebben. Veel mensen hadden voor haar gezorgd, velen van hen waren vreemden die ze nooit meer zou zien, maar ze gaven Narcissa tenminste één warme nacht en gaven het kind wat te eten. Alles was beter dan de koude harde grond. In tijden van regen zorgde Narcissa ervoor dat ze haar dochter haar jas gaf, om haar zo droog en warm mogelijk te houden. Als er geen geld werd gegeven, gaf Narcissa haar eten aan haar dochter. Narcissa's prioriteit was altijd Thorns geweest en er was niets dat ze niet voor haar dochter zou doen.

❖ In Tumbleton, een grotere stad, vond Narcissa weer een baan in een bordeel. Tijdens werkuren mocht Thorns haar moeder niet zien, dus werd ze naar een buurvrouw gebracht die wel op het kind wilde passen. Kort verhaal: de vrouw was vaak dronken en liep overdag voornamelijk slapend in haar slaapkamer, waardoor Thorns in de handen van haar zonen achterbleef, die kinderen van de straat waren geworden. Ze kenden alle andere dakloze, verlaten of gewoon eenzame kinderen van de stad en Thorns slechte dingen leren werd een leuke bezigheid om de tijd te doden. Ze leerden haar hoe ze moest stelen, hoe ze haar snelle vingers kon gebruiken om sieraden te jatten van de rijkere mensen van het smallfolk en hoe ze door kleine ruimtes kon ontsnappen. Ze hadden een slechte invloed, maar gaven Thorns ook een manier om haar moeder op de een of andere manier te ondersteunen. Narcissa was te druk met werken de hele tijd, ze kon haar dochter niet meer disciplineren en was te moe om het plotselinge goud op te merken. Wat telde was het eten op tafel. Narcissa wilde geld verdienen om met Thorns naar Essos te vertrekken, maar mensen omkopen om ze mee te nemen op hun boot was tegenwoordig niet goedkoop meer. Thorns bracht haar dagen door met het stelen van eten, goud en met het rondhangen met andere straatkinderen. Tot ze twaalf was, speelde ze, vocht ze met andere kinderen, maar danste ze ook 's nachts op straat met haar gevonden familie.
❖ Toen kwam er op een dag een einde aan. Thorns kende de man helemaal niet, maar de zonen van de dronken vrouw wel. Er waren veel mogelijke motieven voor hun daden. Sommigen zeggen dat hij de gewelddadige stiefvader was van een van hun vrienden die hun moeder pijn deed en de zoon wilde wraak, anderen zeggen dat de jongens brood van hem hadden geprobeerd te stelen, maar dat ze werden betrapt en dat hij een van de jongens sloeg voordat hij hem bij zijn arm greep en hem naar de bewakers van de stad bracht. Deze jongens wilden wraak en Thorns had gehoord van de wraakzuchtige plannen van de zonen. Ze was alleen nog maar een kind en had geen idee dat ze het echt zouden doen. Die nacht staken de jongens de bakkerij in brand, niet wetende dat de man binnen nog aan het werk was. De volgende dag klopten bewakers op de deur van de dronken vrouw, die de jongens in hechtenis namen en ook zochten naar het meisje dat altijd bij hen was, Thorns. Thorns had er niets mee te maken, echt niet, dus Narcissa vluchtte opnieuw met haar dochter weg. Deze keer naar King's Landing, om de boot naar Essos te nemen.
