Map of King's Landing

Storyline

King's Landing is sinds Aegon's Verovering het centrum van de macht in Westeros. De jonge Targaryen koning Aegon the Conqueror veroverde Westeros samen met zijn queen-sisters en hun draken. Nu heersen zij vanuit de hoofdstad over het continent. Aan het hof van de Targaryen's verblijven de machtigste adelijken van het land, samen met hun hofhouding.

Nu, één jaar na de verovering van heel Westeros, is de grote zaal van de Red Keep rijk versierd met Targaryen-banners, drakenmotieven en weelderige bloemstukken. De zaal wordt gevuld met muziek terwijl adellijke families samenkomen om de eenwording van Westeros onder Targaryen-heerschappij te vieren. Ter ere van het éénjarig jubileum van Aegon's Verovering wordt een debutantenbal georganiseerd. Dit bal dient als een gelegenheid om huwbare edelen te presenteren voor potentiële huwelijken, waarmee allianties worden gesmeed en de stabiliteit van het nieuwe rijk wordt versterkt.

Regels van het Hof

Deze regels helpen om de orde, respect en veiligheid binnen het Targaryen hof te handhaven en zorgen ervoor dat het hofleven soepel en volgens protocol verloopt:

Basisinformatie

Deze RPG speelt zich af aan het hof in King's Landing, ongeveer 300 jaar voor de gebeurtenissen in "House of the Dragon".

Situatie voor Aegon's Vervovering - De Zeven Regerende Families

Vóór Aegon's Verovering (ook bekend als Aegon's Conquest) waren er verschillende grote huizen die over de Zeven Koninkrijken van Westeros heersten. Elke regio had zijn eigen heersende huis:

• Kingdom of the North (Het Noorden) - Het Huis Stark regeerde als koningen van het Noorden vanuit Winterfell.
• Kingdom of the Mountain and the Vale (De Vale) - Het Huis Arryn heerste over de Vale van Arryn.
• Kingdom of the Isles and Rivers (De Rivierenlanden) - Het Huis Hoare (House Hoare) regeerde over de Rivierenlanden vanuit Harrenhal.
• Kingdom of the Rock (De Westlanden) - Het Huis Lannister was het heersende huis in de Westlanden vanuit Casterly Rock.
• Kingdom of the Stormlands (De Stormlanden) - Het Huis Durrandon regeerde over de Stormlanden vanuit Storm's End.
• Kingdom of the Reach (Het Bereik) - Het Huis Gardener was de heersende dynastie in het Bereik vanuit Highgarden.
• Princedom of Dorne (Dorne) - Dorne werd geregeerd door verschillende vorstenhuizen, zoals het Huis Martell vanuit Sunspear.

Situatie na Aegon's Vervovering - Targaryen heerschappij

Na Aegon's Conquest waren er geen onafhankelijke koningen meer in de Zeven Koninkrijken van Westeros. Na Aegon's Conquest werden alle eerdere koninkrijken verenigd onder de heerschappij van de Targaryens. De titels van koning werden afgeschaft voor alle regionale heersers behalve voor de koning op de IJzeren Troon, dat is Aegon momenteel. Hij heert samen met zijn twee sisterqueens Visenya and Rhaenys. ~~Ja ze zijn siblings en met elkaar getrouwd.~~ De oude regionale heersers dienden als leenmannen van de Targaryen-koningen. De belangrijkste leenmannen van Aegon de Veroveraar waren:

• House Stark - Lords van Winterfell en het Noorden.
• House Arryn - Lords van de Vale van Arryn.
• House Lannister - Lords van Casterly Rock en de Westlanden.
• House Baratheon - Lords van Storm's End en de Stormlanden.
• House Gardener - Lords van Highgarden en het Bereik (voor hun ondergang in de Field of Fire).
• House Martell - Lords van Sunspear en Dorne (na hun vredige overgave).

Deze huizen, samen met andere regionale heersers, erkenden Aegon als hun koning nadat hij met zijn draken en legers Westeros had veroverd. Ze behielden een mate van autonomie in hun respectievelijke regio's, maar waren verplicht om Aegon te dienen en belastingen en troepen bij te dragen wanneer dat nodig was.

Personages

Rollen kunnen een highborn of een lowborn inwoner van King's Landing zijn. Ze kunnen zowel uit Westeros als Essos afkomstig zijn, al zullen de meeste leden van het hof afkomstig zijn uit Westeros.

High borns

Als hooggeborene ben je een lid van de adel en speel je een belangrijke rol aan het hof. Je kan een lid zijn van de Targaryen familie of een van de andere adelijke families in Westeros. Je kunt, maar dat hoeft niet, een van de volgende posities bekleden:

• ~~Hand van de Koning~~ - De belangrijkste adviseur en rechterhand van de koning, beheert de dagelijkse zaken van het koninkrijk.
• ~~Meester van de Wetten~~ - Toezicht op de handhaving van wetten en het beheer van gerechtigheid.
• Meester van de Munt - Beheert de financiën en schatkist van het koninkrijk, zorgt voor economische stabiliteit.
• Meester van Schepen - Verantwoordelijk voor de koninklijke marine en de verdediging van de kustlijnen van het koninkrijk.
• ~~Meester van Whisperers~~ - Verantwoordelijk voor inlichtingen en spionage, verzamelt informatie ter bescherming van het rijk.
• Lord Commander van de Kingsguard - Leidt de elite Kingsguard, zorgt voor de veiligheid van de koninklijke familie.
• Hoge Septoon - De hoogste religieuze figuur, biedt spirituele leiding en houdt toezicht op religieuze ceremonies.
• Warden - Adellijke heren die verantwoordelijk zijn voor de veiligheid en het beheer van specifieke regio's (~~Noord~~, Oost, Zuid, West).
• Hofdames - Adellijke vrouwen die de koningin en prinsessen dienen, hen assisteren met verschillende taken en gezelschap bieden.

De Low borns werken aan het hof. Zij zijn niet afkomstig uit een adellijke familie, maar kunnen wel bastaarden van die families zijn. Alle low borns in de rpg moeten een baan hebben aan het hof, deze banen zijn :

• Rentmeesters - Verantwoordelijk voor het beheer van het huishouden, het toezicht op de voorraden en het coördineren van dagelijkse activiteiten. [0/2]
• Kamermeisjes/Kamerdienaars - Verzorging van de persoonlijke behoeften van edelen, zoals het schoonmaken van kamers, het voorbereiden van kleding en helpen met aankleden. [2/2]
• Keukenpersoneel - Koks, bakkers en assistenten die maaltijden bereiden voor het hof. [0/2]
• Staljongens - Verzorgen de paarden en onderhouden de stallen, zorgen ervoor dat de rijdieren klaar zijn voor reizen en evenementen. [0/2]
• Wachters/Schutters - Zorgen voor de beveiliging van het kasteel en zijn inwoners, bewaken ingangen en patrouilleren over het terrein. [0/2]
• Boodschappers/Koeriers - Brengen berichten binnen het kasteel en naar nabijgelegen locaties, zorgen voor soepele communicatie. [0/2]
• Entertainers - Muzikanten, dansers en narren die optreden voor het hof tijdens evenementen en bijeenkomsten. [1/2]

Tamas is the true son of Braavos' Sealord.
In trying to delay an unwanted, arranged marriage, he has accepted Visenya's invitiation to celebrate the rise of Aegon at King's Landing and make his debut into society.
However, he has no intention of actually playing this part. Instead, he has convinced his Sword, Valhan, to trade places with him while Tamas gets to enjoy some last moments of freedom, without the looming dread of dutiful responsibility.

Tamas' father has been elected Sealord of Braavos, only last year - after his predecessor died a peaceful death, at old age.
Before this they were a wealthy merchant family, owning their own fleet and travelling to make trades often.
While Tamas is happy for his father, he isn't too pleased about the changes the new title will bring for him. He is very much still a merchant/sailor/traveler at heart and has no desire to update his lifestyle.

𝓔𝔁𝓽𝓻𝓪

𝓒𝓱𝓪𝓻𝓪𝓬𝓽𝓮𝓻𝓲𝓼𝓽𝓲𝓬𝓼

Tamas was practically raised at sea, and this has heavily determined his personality; he is a free spirit and chooses to spend his time enjoying, fully experiencing life and all it has to offer, over worrying and stressing over things he can't control. He likes going with the flow, instead of fighting the current.
Except for the case of his switch with Valhan, what you see is very much what you get with Tamas. He doesn't bother acting differently than he is feeling, and isn't afraid to put his cards on the table. He loves to laugh and making others do the very same, which results in him often retorting to them in a cheeky, manner - frequently forgetting the rules of social etiquette in the process. While he enjoys teasing and challenging, and may state his blunt opinion without having been asked; he isn't crude and he never aims to offense.
He has an amazing sense of humour and as much as he loves to poke fun at others, he takes it very well when he finds himself on the receiving end of some lighthearted jest.
He is also a shameless flirt. Regardless of who is in front of him, or their status.
Tamas is known for pulling pranks, or stirring up fights - in which he prefers his fists over a sword. Through the years he's found it to be the perfect way to help him rid himself of his excessive energy, as well as letting go of pent up frustration ánd connecting with his sparring partner of choice - contrary as it may sound. To his experience, it's easier to talk after a little brawl. Win or lose; he enjoys the match more than the result.
The sailor is always on the hunt for knowledge, and often finds himself incapable of containing his curiosity. He is prone to pose heaps of questions, sometimes to the point of exhausting his conversation partners' patience. Part of him just requires to dissect his every encounter and figure out it's innermost workings, it's an urge he hasn't been able to tame as of yet.
This endless wonder of his is also the main reason of why he adores animals - of all shapes and sizes. It brings him immense joy to observe them, and try to figure out the best approach. He isn't quick to shy away from any creature, which has earned him quite the few scars, but even more extraordinary connections with some of the most peculiar critters.
In essence, Tamas is just a boy who never quite grew all the way up, values freedom for all, and loves easily and thoroughly.

𝓛𝓸𝓸𝓴𝓼
The first things about Tamas that draws focus are his vivid, azure eyes that often sparkle with joy. When he was younger, his father often joked they were that way because he stared at the ocean too much and now they reflected it.
One might, however, find themselves soon distracted by his stubborn, rich brown -almost black- locks of hair, or his sharp jawline graced with a kempt stubble.
His lips are defined and full, and seem to be set into a permanent, soft yet somewhat mischievous smile. When he speaks of something he's passionate about, his whole face moves along with his mouth.
Tamas reaches an average 1.83 and has a lean body. He is broadest at his shoulders.
His skin tone leans towards olive, although he tends to get much tanner when he's at sea. He doesn't burn easily and if he does, the redness fades quickly.
He usually wears the favoured midnight black, charcoal grey and purple robes of the Braavos nobility but since his switch with Valhan he now wears his armour, or the bright colours the more common Braavosi don. He tends towards blues and yellows.

There's not much to be said of Syrion en Feiara's marriage; they were matched by their parents and they liked each other well enough but there was never any real love between them. They did, however, manage to produce a sole son: Tamas.
Syrion was over the moon when he learned of his wife's pregnancy. But his happiness took a great hit, nine months later when the boy was due. Feiara suffered complications and, unfortunately did not live to hold her newborn son.
Syrion was supposed to set sail a couple of days later, and without a mother in the picture he made the only logical move he could think of: he took the babe with him, on the sea.
Tamas, as he had named the child, proved an easy infant. He was happy to let the ocean rock him to sleep, and only fussed when he was hungry - but with all the ship's crew ready to step in when necessary, he was never left to cry for long.
It's no surprise his first memory is one of sunlight bouncing of the sea.
However easy he was as a baby, things changed when Tamas became a toddler. He would often hide, to the point of the entire crew's despair - thinking he had gone overboard somehow - only to giggle or emerge when his father was at the verge of tears. His favourite part was how they were always só happy to finally discover him, tucked in a barrel or behind a door, or between bags of spices or other mercantile, that they forgot to punish him. The ship was truly his playground.
When he was old enough to talk and ask questions, he barely ever stopped. Quickly enough he was put to work. Any small, menial task that would occupy him - even for a little bit, was bestowed upon him. Tamas soon discovered he liked the work, as it allowed him to learn everything there was to know about ships without having to ask too much questions.
Suffice to say that when he reached his teens he was well versed in all that entailed sailing and wouldn't stay ashore even when his father begged him to. He only ever stayed on land long enough to spend some time in sensual company he'd learned he loved.
Tamas truly became his father's greatest asset when it came to trading; he proved himself quick witted, yet fair and very charming when he wanted to be.
Recently, however, their relationship took a dive. When Syrion was elected Sealord, last year, he left little time before deciding that he could use this position, along with his son's charms to secure an advantageous marriage for Tamas.
Claiming this vexed him would be a huge understatement. He confided in his personal guard, Valhan - with whom he had rapidly become friends after being introduced and when Visenya's invitation came they were quick to forge a plan that would allow Tamas to enjoy his freedom just a little longer.

Her full name is Emylia Baratheon, but it's by her friends often shortened to ''Mya''. By servants and when someone is using her full title, it's Lady Emylia Baratheon. Mya is used in private conversations.

Mya was born on the twentieth of March, when spring starts and the days are starting to get warmer. This is why her parents always saw her as gift from the Gods, because she brought fertility and warmth into the world with her. Mya is 24 years old.

Orys was the rumored bastard half-brother of Aegon I Targaryen by their father Aerion, Lord of Dragonstone. Orys was one of Aegon's fiercest commanders, and was regarded as Aegon's only true friend and champion of his youth. This is why Orys is close to the Targaryen family, because he also has Targaryen blood.

Aegon I's grandson Jaehaerys I Targaryen considered it an open secret that Orys was Aerion's bastard son, a dragonseed of House Targaryen. Nonetheless, even Jaehaerys knew absolutely nothing about Orys's mother or the circumstances of his birth, not even rumors - such as whether Orys was conceived as a product of first night or just a youthful dalliance by Aerion.

❁. 𝓓𝓻𝓪𝓰𝓸𝓷

Their bond was capable because of Mya's Targaryen blood. The dragon was unclaimed, until the point it escaped the Dragon Pit and flew to attack the people on the harbour. He was stopped by Mya, who ran to save a child from getting burned. The dragon didn't spit his fire, instead a bond was created between him and Mya that still stands until today. Her dragon is Anteros. He is a golden-male dragon, around 26m long and shines bright in the sun. He has ember-colored eyes and his flames are the reddest you've ever seen. Because of her dragon and bravery, Mya is also training to be a knight, but it's not going as well as she hoped...

❁. 𝓗𝓸𝓾𝓼𝓮
HOUSE BARATHEON
House Baratheon of Storm's End is one of the Great Houses of Westeros, and is the principal house in the stormlands, which they rule as Lords Paramount of the Stormlands. Their seat, Storm's End, is an ancient castle raised by the Storm Kings from the now-extinct House Durrandon. The Baratheon sigil is a crowned black stag on a field of gold. Their words are "Ours is the Fury".

When King Argilac Durrandon offered Aegon his daughter Argella in marriage and some lands as her dowry, the Lord of Dragonstone spurned the Storm King's proposal. Instead, he requested significantly more land and offered to seal the pact by wedding Orys to Argilac's daughter. The Storm King angrily rejected these terms, for Argilac the Arrogant believed that Orys was a bastard and that such a match would dishonor his daughter.

When Aegon's Conquest's had begun, Orys had command on the ground during the first battle, defeating Lords Mooton and Darklyn. After Aegon's coronation at Aegonfort, Orys was raised to Maestor of Ships. Within days of the coronation, Orys and Queen Rhaenys Targaryen, with her dragon Meraxes, were then tasked with capturing Storm's End, taking the greater part of Aegon's host with them. While King Argilac gathered his banners, Lords Fell, Buckler, and Errol ambushed the advance elements of Orys's host, until they were forced to retreat when Meraxes burned the surrounding woods. Argilac the Arrogant, hearing of the burning of Harrenhal, knew his formidable walls would not protect him from dragonfire. Argilac rode out with his great host to give open battle.

Orys was made aware of Argilac's march by Rhaenys, who provided him with the Storm King's numbers and dispositions, for she had spotted the host with her dragon. Baratheon took up a strong position on the hills south of Bronzegate, digging in on the high ground while he awaited the stormlanders. Argilac's host was twice the size of Orys's, and when the battle called the Last Storm begun, the stormlanders managed to break through the Baratheon center, only to be engulfed by dragonflame. With Meraxes and Rhaenys turning the battle into chaos, Orys descended down the hill, where he encountered the Storm King. Ordering his own men to stand aside, he gave Argilac a chance to yield. Instead, Argilac cursed Orys and they fought instead. Though he took a wound, Orys slew Argilac the Arrogant, ending the reign of the Storm Kings. The loss of their king made the stormlanders loss heart, who surrendered or fled.

Aegon rewarded Orys with the lands and incomes of Storm's End and named him Lord Paramount of the Stormlands. None dared suggest that he was unworthy of these honors. Orys took Argella as his wife and to honor Argliac's valor, he adopted the stag banner, honors and words of the Durrandons, "Ours is the Fury", forming House Baratheon.

While they might not be as rich or powerful as the Lannisters or the Tyrells, the Baratheons are still a Paramount House of one of the Seven Kingdoms, which means they command the loyalty of all other major houses in the Stormlands (30+), many of which probably have various landed knights and minor nobles serving them in turn. And while their lands may not be as fertile as those in the Reach or the Riverlands, they’re probably still more productive than Dorne or the North.

Some other advantages they have include:

- They have a family tradition of martial prowess and emphasis on military training. House Baratheon has produced many famous warriors including house founder Orys Baratheon, Lyonnel “Laughing Storm” Baratheon, and of course King Robert himself. Many of their bannermen have a similar tradition, especially the Marcher Lords (Houses Caron, Swann, Dondarrion, and Selmy) who have spent centuries fighting the Dornish.
- Their house seat, Storm’s End, is one of the largest, and most impregnable fortresses in Westeros (and also implied to have supernatural properties).
- The Stormlands is known for producing the best archers in the Seven Kingdoms, which is probably a result of…
- A thriving timber industry thanks to the thick forests which cover much of the region.

❁. 𝓘𝓷𝓼𝓲𝓭𝓮
Emylia staat bekend als een goed persoon. Ze is vriendelijk, onbaatzuchtig, zorgzaam en respectvol, zoals een goede dame zou moeten zijn. Het is de manier waarop ze is opgevoed die haar tot het perfecte edelmeisje maakt. Ze werd opgevoed om zich strikt binnen de regels van haar moeder te gedragen, om vrouwelijk en charmant te zijn, dus dat is wat Mya werd. Ze kan met iedereen over alles praten, lacht altijd de liefste glimlach en morst zelfs nooit haar drankje. Haar kamer is georganiseerd en schoon. Emylia is alles hoe een vrouw aan het hof zich moet gedragen zoals in de boeken staat.

Maar dit veranderde allemaal toen ze een hulpeloos kind redde van een draak, waarna de draak zich aan haar toevertrouwde en zich vervolgens aan haar onderwierp. Met deze daad liet Mya zien hoe dapper ze is. Als iemand anders in gevaar is, het maakt niet uit of het een vriend of vijand is, biedt ze een helpende hand. Ze zou haar eigen leven riskeren om een ander te redden, Mya hoeft er niet eens twee keer over na te denken. Als ze nodig is, komt ze, ze laat alles vallen om te helpen.

Vanwege de zeldzaamheid van drakenrijders werd ze onmiddellijk gevraagd om zich bij de ridders aan te sluiten en voor de koning te vechten wanneer dat nodig was. Ze kon geen nee zeggen en krijgt nu zwaardvechtlessen van professionele ridders, wat haar tot nieuwe inzichten heeft gebracht. Het eerste is dat het allemaal arrogante idioten zijn die lachen als ze valt, maar wegrennen als haar draak Anteros naar buiten komt om haar te beschermen. Ze is niet van plan met een man te trouwen, vooral niet als ze haar laten zien hoe hersenloos ze zijn. Het tweede is dat haar kracht uit haar geest komt en niet uit haar handen. In man-tegen-man-gevechten valt ze altijd vrijwel onmiddellijk op de grond, maar haar gedachten forceren haar altijd dat ze moet opstaan en het opnieuw moet proberen. Mya kwam ook tot andere inzichten, zoals hoe naïef ze binnen het hof kan zijn. Mensen hebben allemaal altijd bedoelingen, dingen die ze van je willen of dingen die ze van je verwachten. Ze realiseerde zich dat ze hier blind voor is, omdat Mya niet eens goed kan liegen. Mya is goed van hart, gelooft dat iedereen om haar heen ook goed is en dat zelfs de donkerste harten het licht weer kunnen zien. Dit betekent dat ze vergevingsgezind is, duizenden kansen geeft, maar ook dat ze geen idee heeft wanneer iemand haar bespeelt. Ze is aardig, vriendelijk en behulpzaam en als iemand doet alsof ze haar nodig hebben, geeft ze degene uit vriendelijkheid wat hij wil, zonder erbij na te denken. Ze laat zich gemakkelijk voor de gek houden, maar lijkt nooit ervan te leren.

Maar Mya houdt ook van de natuur. Ze is geïnteresseerd in alles wat ermee te maken heeft, van de plannen tot de bomen tot de zeeën en het koraal erin. Mya houdt ervan om in bomen te klimmen, vrij te zijn in bossen en in de buurt van planten te zijn. Ze is een vrije geest, bijna elfachtig. Zij is het meest nieuwsgierige wezen en probeert zoveel mogelijk te zoeken in dit leven. Het maakt niet uit of het een nieuw soort plant is of roddels en geheimen, Mya wil het graag allemaal weten. Het is haar doel om alle verhalen en het drama te kennen, tot aan de namen van alle boomsoorten in het bos of alle soorten vogels die rondvliegen. Mya is een nieuwsgierig, onschuldig ding, houdt van praten, maar heeft ook een open oor voor verhalen.

Het laatste is Mya in een kamer. Omdat ze nog steeds een hofdame is, is ze een heel open boek en kan ze met iedereen een gesprek over alles beginnen. Ze onthoudt alle namen van de mensen die ze ziet, maar ook de dingen die ze haar vertellen. Het maakt niet uit of de kok haar vertelde dat haar nichtje weer een baby krijgt, of dat de prinses haar vertelt over een nieuw boek dat ze uit de bibliotheek heeft gehaald, dagen later kan ze het zich nog herinneren en ernaar vragen. Ze is altijd geïnteresseerd, oprecht geïnteresseerd, in het welzijn van mensen en hun persoonlijke dingen. Ze houdt ervan dat mensen mensen zijn, hun leven leiden en is blij dat ze ergens deel van kan uitmaken. Mya is spraakzaam, kan uren praten over haar interesses, maar is ook geduldig en geeft jou ook de ruimte om te praten. Ze is enthousiast, blij en laat dit ook zien in haar bewegingen: ze klapt en springt als ze blij is en fronst duidelijk als ze verdrietig is. Ze is zorgzaam, voor de prinses zorgen is haar plicht en staat altijd aan haar zijde. Mya's deur staat altijd open als iemand zin heeft in een praatje. Zij is het meisje dat zingt tijdens het baden of het eerste meisje dat danst als niemand anders dat doet. Ze is niet bang voor het oordeel van iemand anders, ze is bang om niet te leven.

Mya staat bekend om haar lange, chocoladebruine golvende haar. Het raakt haar benen, zo lang is het en het is ook volledig gezond en zacht. Het is altijd gevlochten, vanwege haar rang moet ze dameachtig en nobel overkomen, maar ze houdt ervan om haar haar los te hebben en haar lokken in de wind te laten wapperen. Haar ogen hebben dezelfde kleur, zo niet donkerder. Haar ogen zijn amandelvormig en ze heeft mooie, zwarte wimpers. Haar huid is warm getint, soms lijkt het alsof ze gloeit in de zon. Ze heeft donkerbruine wenkbrauwen in dezelfde kleur als haar haar en volle, roze lippen. Ze ziet er niet uit alsof ze de sterkste is, en dat is ze ook niet. Mya heeft kleine armen en een klein lichaam, haar kracht moet van binnenuit komen. Haar kracht ligt in haar uithoudingsvermogen en het vermogen om het altijd opnieuw te proberen, niet in hoe hard ze kan slaan. Omdat ze van de natuur houdt, kun je haar soms blootsvoets aantreffen of met aarde nog onder haar nagels en aan haar vingers. Mya ruikt ook naar bloemen. Wat haar huis betreft, draagt ze meestal iets van goud. Meestal draagt ze gouden sieraden en lichtgekleurde of pastelkleurige jurken, maar ze heeft ook gouden kanten jurken in haar bezit.

Mya werd geboren als dochter van Argella Durrandon en Orys Baratheon. Ze is hun tweede kind na haar oudere broer Raden. Mya werd geboren in Storm's End. Het kasteel ligt in Durran's Point aan de noordkust van Shipbreaker Bay, ten zuiden van Bronzegate en ten noordoosten van Griffin's Roost. Haar vader nam haar als kind vaak mee op wandelingen langs de kust, waar ze dol op was. Als kind wist ze dat de relatie tussen haar ouders ingewikkeld was. De prinses was gevlucht voor haar gewelddadige vader en stemde ermee in om zelf met Orys te trouwen, tot ongenoegen van Argilac, die haar overal probeerde te vinden. Ze vluchtten naar het kasteel in King's Landing, waar Aegon I zijn halfbroer en zijn vrouw beschermde.

C H I L D H O O D.
Mya was een zeer geliefd kind en had niets te klagen. Haar moeder was streng voor haar, maar Argella wist niet anders, aangezien ze zelf een prinses was en haar moeder ook streng voor haar was. Dit betekende dat Mya vanaf jonge leeftijd leerde hoe ze zich perfect moest gedragen, hoe ze recht moest lopen en hoe ze moest praten als een edelmeisje. Haar vader had alleen status omdat hij de beste vriend van de koning was en haar moeder een weggelopen prinses, dus toen was het voor Mya belangrijk om perfect te zijn en zelf een goede echtgenoot te vinden.

Ze kreeg heel goed onderwijs. Haar gouvernante was Septa Lorraine, die haar talen leerde, maar haar ook zaken als etiquette en geschiedenis leerde, en nuttige activiteiten zoals naaien. Mya was nieuwsgierig, deed altijd haar best en was een braaf meisje. Lorraine complimenteerde haar vaak op haar gedrag. Alleen voor haar moeder was Mya een vervelend kind, omdat ze altijd buiten wilde spelen of naar het bos wilde ontsnappen.

Mya had een hechte band met haar broer Raden, hoewel hij altijd bij hun vader was en dingen deed die zij niet mocht doen, zoals zwaardvechten en spelen in bomen, gingen ze toch wel eens samen erop uit. Ze visten samen in de rivieren en Raden liet haar altijd de nieuwe slakken zien die hij had gevonden, of samen rolden ze de heuvels af, waardoor hun kleren vies werden. Ze deden zich altijd voor als avonturiers en gingen de zee of het bos in, hoog klimmend, alsof ze wild en vrij waren.

Tijdens de verovering van Aegon was haar vader de hele tijd weg. Hij vocht voortdurend naast de koning en was zijn meest loyale strijder en sterkste generaal. Orys Baratheon, leidde een leger tegen Argilac The Arrogant, de vader van haar moeder. De strijd tegen koning Argilac de Arrogant begon, omdat Argilac aan Aegon I vroeg zijn dochter terug te sturen en het huwelijk dat ze met Orys had te verbreken. Aegon I weigerde. Argilac antwoordde toen dat hij niet zou buigen voor een andere koning, dat resulteerde in oorlog. Argilac koos ervoor om de strijd in het veld aan te gaan en werd verslagen en gedood door Orys, waardoor Huis Durrandon werd geëlimineerd. Dit had tot gevolg dat hij na de verovering de Maester of Ships werd, maar ook de nieuwe status van Lord Paramount of Storm's End ontving van Aegon I. Orys kreeg het kasteel, de zwaarden en behield het sigil. Mya's broer Raden zou zijn erfgenaam zijn en zou nu als zijn erfgenaam worden opgevoed. Mya kreeg nu ook een echte adellijke status en maakte deel uit van het nieuwe Huis Baratheon.

C L A I M I N G A D R A G O N.
Toen ze twintig werd, net tijdens de verovering, was de draak Anteros ontsnapt uit de Dragonpit waar hij werd vastgehouden. Hij vloog roekeloos zonder berijder over King's Landing en keerde uiteindelijk naar de haven, waar hij landde. Hij begon eerst happen uit boten te nemen, waardoor mensen schreeuwend begonnen weg te rennen en er chaos ontstond. In die chaos zaten Mya en Raden, die probeerden erachter te komen of hun vader vanaf een van deze boten aan land zou komen. In plaats daarvan werden ze verrast door een draak. In de chaos had een kind de hand van zijn moeder losgelaten en bleef nu alleen achter, net voor het hoofd van de draak, die vuur spuwde in de lucht. Mya aarzelde geen seconde en sprong voor de jongen om hem te beschermen. De draak stopte, keek haar aan en plotseling ontstond er een band. De draak boog voor haar en Mya noemde hem Anteros, haar draak.

Toen Aegon won, vroeg hij haar om uitleg, die zij hem braaf gaf. Hij was verrast door haar moed en zei haar dat ze een plaats in het koninklijke leger moest zoeken, omdat hij drakenrijders en soldaten nodig leek te hebben met haar moed. Ze zei dat ze dat zou doen, maar nu maakt ze deel uit van een leger arrogante mannen en heeft ze absoluut geen idee hoe ze moet vechten.

C A S T L E D U T I E S.
Toen Mya zestien was, werd ze hofdame van prinses Visenya Targaryen. Terwijl haar broer met andere ridders in Koningslanding vocht en zich samen met hun vader voorbereidde op oorlog en dergelijke, zorgde zij voor de jongere prinses. Ze behield deze rol, zelfs na de verovering en zelfs nadat ze zelf een draak had opgeëist. Mya is erg loyaal aan de prinses, volgt haar overal en neemt haar taken zeer serieus.

Haar broer zei altijd dat ze niet hoefde te trouwen. Van jongs af aan waren ze hecht en Raden kwam altijd bij haar voor advies en hulp, dat wilde hij niet kwijt raken naarmate ze ouder werden en hij wilde Mya thuis houden als zijn adviseur. Mya had ook geen zin om te trouwen, omdat er zoveel te ontdekken was, ze wilde niet zomaar settelen en nooit meer uitgaan. Plotseling, na de verovering, veranderde Raden van gedachten. Hij was het met hun vader eens dat het tijd werd voor Mya om een echtgenoot te zoeken, een echtgenoot die ze voor haar zouden uitkiezen als ze er zelf geen kon vinden. Mya voelde zich verraden door haar broer, maar wist dat ze niet tegen de wensen van haar vader in kon gaan. Dus nu is ze op zoek, terwijl ze ook leert vechten en voor de prinses zorgt.

Ambitious, stern, manipulative, intelligent, distrusting, secretive, misandrist, lonely, wants to be wanted, wants to be soft, she's actually an optimist would you believe, misunderstood, a whole different person inside of her, filled with fear, jealous, broken-hearted, .

Ren is nothing if not ambitious. From a young age she's learned that wanting more isn't a sin and that even if something seems unobtainable, it isn't necessarily. One calls it hope, the other greed. It's not a secret that Ren despises her past and her status. She talks about it loudly among friends and other sympathizers. She's less vocal about her ambitions, because she'd very much like her head to remain on her shoulders.
This makes her very distrusting and secretive. She's been let down by a lot of people and she sees violence in a lot of things, so she doesn't tend to small talk or be nice to people she's just met. It's clearly a defense mechanism to not let anyone get too close. The fear of being hurt really overpowers it all.
To be ambitious is to be intelligent. To get where she wants to be, she's taught herself to read and write - with a little bit of help from her illiterate mother - and taught herself to be silent or speak up at the right times. She prides herself in her self-induced accomplishments but often wishes she'd had a better upbringing. No matter how fast she runs, there's always someone faster. And it infuriates her.
It infuriates her because more often than not, it's a man. Ren is a very obvious misandrist. She hates men, she loathes them, she mistrusts them, she doesn't think they hold any - ANY - worth or need - except maybe for reproduction.
A direct consequence of this misandry, however, is the loneliness. Ren isn't straight, thank the Gods, but that doesn't make it easier. It doesn't make her able to visit pubs, for instance, because she knows she would be bothered by a lot of men there. And being with a woman is considered a sin by the Faith of the Seven anyway. This means Ren is alone, a lot. And with being alone a lot, comes loneliness.
Despite all this harshness, Ren truly does want to be soft. She wants to be safe, and wealthy and live a kind life. She does dream of a house of her own, a tended garden, maybe a child or two. She realizes this life is most likely not in the cards for her, but can't help wishing for it anyway.
There are fragments of this softness one can catch, when Ren's with friends for example. Or when she's at the Dragon's Pit, admiring the giant creatures. Or when she's in a corner of the library, reading a book. There's a whole different person inside of her waiting to come out. But fear is a liar and it keeps you chained and stuck.

Ren is born a bastard to the Lord of Claw Isle. Her mother fell victim to the old tradition of the First Night by Lord Crispian. Ren detests her father for it and is glad the new Lord condemns it.
As a consequence of this, when Cira gave birth to Ren, a pale whitehaired baby, Cira's husband, a fisherman under Celtigar banner, abandoned her, but not before he started a rumor in town that his wife was a whore who'd slept with multiple Lords. It completely ruined Cira's reputation and she was forced to raise her child in exile. She was able to make enough money weaving fishing equipment and baskets to sustain a survivalist lifestyle for them both until Ren was old enough to be send away.
When Lord Crispian died and his brother Alton took over as Lord of Claw Isle, Cira and Ren were visited by his messenger. In the letter, Lord Alton acknowledged Ren as his brothers bastard and stated that he had requested a servant's place for her on Dragonstone. She was to serve House Targaryen, who House Celtigar had been sworn to for generations and shared the blood of Old Valyria, It wasn't the apology Ren and Cira were waiting on, but they both knew that the position was considered an honor for a bastard.
Knowing Alton wouldn't have have mentioned Ren's heritage to the Targaryens out of respect for his brother, Ren and her mother came up with a plan to dye her hair and hide her parentage. They'd both agreed that that would be the safest option for Ren, if she wanted to gain status at court. And thus their ruse began.
Ren travelled to Dragonstone at eight year's old for the first time, not as Kiren Waters, bastard of Celtigar, but as Ren Wendwater. It was there she first met princess Elaena, whom she fell in love with when she was fifteen. At seventeen they'd made plans to run away together, however, fate wasn't on their side and Elaena tragically died.
Shortly after, Aegon began his Conquest and in her grief and anger, Ren joined the Targaryens at their war camp. Seeing the horrors of War so shortly after losing the love of her life, left a huge imprint on her. The heartbreak that happened in those years, the terrors she saw, left scars that would never heal again. After the Wars ended, she remained at King's Landing to tend to the dragons.
Ren and her mother were very close growing up. They literally only had each other, which makes Ren very protective of her mother. She hasn't see much of her mother, especially not during the Wars, but everything she does, she does it out of love for her mother and hatred for her fathers - both the actual one and the one who abandoned her mother.

O T H E R

✧ Ren has quite extensive fishing knowledge. She grew up in a fisher's village and knows how to fish, how to weave, how to harpoon, how to swim.. you name it.
✧ Ren spends a lot of free time studying books on magic, dragons and the connection between the two.
✧ She often spies on the royal family during their High Valyrian lessons in the hope to learn to language too.
✧ Her favorite place in King's Landing is the Dragon's Pit. Even when she's not on duty, she's often there to admire the dragons and spy on their dragon riders.
✧ Ren is attracted to both men and women. However, considering she has a severe hatred for men, she has never acted on this attraction towards them. She has had a few encounters with women, but since this is a sin to the Faith of the Seven, these have been scarce and carefully planned.
✧ She's a natural with dragons, probably due to her blood, but not as natural with a sword. She often wishes to be stronger and more able to defend herself.
✧ Her favorite food is fish stew with sweetbread - a Claw Isle staple.
✧ She isn't pro-Targaryen, they have done a lot of things wrong in her eyes, but they are the only sort of family she's ever had so it's a difficult relationship.

R E L A T I O N S

✧ Elaena
It was easy for Ren to fall in love with Elaena. The lady was beautiful, smart and kind to everyone - including common folk. And shy, twelve-year old Kiren, who still missed her mother dearly and who favored the company of dragons over that of people at the age, behaved like a lovesick fool every time the princess-to-be came to visit the Dragons cave at Dragonstone.
When Ren was fifteen, suddenly that love was reciprocated when Elaena took Ren for a ride on her dragon and kissed her in the dark halls after.
The two were inseparable after that, with Elaena often spending nights at the servant's lodgings and Ren sneaking through the castle to find her love. Even though they both were acting very suspicious, they thought no one knew - and no one would ever find out.
And then came the marriage announcement, and Rens entire world crumbled. She'd fooled herself into believing they actually had a chance at being together forever. Elaena had convinced her that even without her family's support - it was possible.
Ren felt betrayed, heartbroken and they fought about it. She quickly came to the realization that Elaena simply felt the same way and that she had no desire to marry her brother. So they forged a plan: first Elaena would go fetch her dragon and steal a few dragon eggs in the process with the intention of selling them later on, then she'd come back for Ren and they would fly away together - far, far away to Dorne or even further to the Free Cities in Essos. Somewhere it was safe and accepted to just be them.
And so, when the time came to leave, Ren waited. And waited. And waited for Elaena. She waited so long - by the time someone told her what had happened, she'd already guessed it.
Ren isn't fully certain what happened in the months after that, or during the War that came soon after. She lived in a state of numbness and survival. And Elaena's name was never spoken again - not by her family nor the other servants. It was like she'd never existed in the first place.

✧ Valerion • Helaena
Ren doesn't understand Valerion. When she first arrived at Dragonstone, she was an shy eight-year-old servant girl, plucked away from her mothers safety to tend to a seven-year old lordling. But back then, he was still nice so it was easy to endure.
Then the romance with Elaena happened and Ren thinks Valerion knew about it.
It was the marriage proposal that truly kicked a dent in her opinion on Valerion. She didn't know he didn't want to marry Elaena either. Even though Elaena told her he didn't, she had a hard time believing that - given the Targaryen family dynamics.
And then Elaena died, and Ren could never prove it but she believes Elaenas family had something to do with it. Why else would Valerion suddenly ignore her when they were in the same room, act like he didn't know who she was when her name came up, treat her like she was the dirt on his booth? And Elaena's name also never came up again, like the Targaryen's were trying to cover up her death?
All Ren could think about was how sad Elaena would be, to see the monster her little brother had become. And she tried to tell him that, never actually in words but by shooting daggers through her eyes and spitting in his cup before handing it to him.
But then, a couple weeks back, something shifted. He stopped ignoring her, even vouched for her when she wasn't in the room? Ren isn't sure if she hated the silence more than this. Why does the prince suddenly pay attention to her? And how can she make him stop?

Ren and Visenya just can't get along. Ren knows that Visenya knows something was going on between her and Elaena. Ren is also painfully aware of how much Visenya looks like Elaena. On the other hand, she's also painfully aware of how Valerions attention to Ren, bothers Visenya. The whole thing is a mess and Ren prefers to stay out of Visenya's way for safety reasons - but also can't deny a certain force pulling her towards the princess.

During on of his visits to King's Landing, Dom had the audacity to ask Ren what her prince is - a question so outrageous and sexist it could only be answered by dumping a goblet of beer all over Doms head. And then with Ren running away and hoping he'd never find her.

Ren doesn't know how it happened, but she's 99.9% sure the Dornish guest for the Debutante Ball is flirting with her. And she thinks she's flirting back. Ren has a lot of opinions on the Dornish traditions and their way of life. In her opinion they lack modesty and their independence from the Iron Throne rubs her the wrong way. Her small bubble might have left her a bit close-minded, but Ren can't deny the Dornish charm the stranger who introduced herself as Nym brings.

In Lethia, Ren has found a genuine friend. It began during Aegon's Conquest, when Ren caught Lethia practicing magic. Rens ambition and legitimate interest in the art, gave her the idea to make a proposition for Lethia. Ren would teach the redheaded woman to read and write, and in return Lethia would show Ren her magic. And so it was done. The more time Ren spend with Lethia, the more she got enamored by her. Her kindness, softness, helpfulness are traits Ren wishes she herself had; and when Lethia dances or sings, Ren seems to forget how to breathe for a minute.
Even when Lethia told Ren she thinks she might've killed a man, Ren didn't run or curse her. Her response was just ''Where should be hide the body?''

Ren hates him with a passion. His life and position is everything she wants for herself, so it's no miracle she absolutely loathes him. And the fact that he's nice to her, makes it even worse. She often daydreams of throwing him in with the rogue dragons, so she can claim his dragon.

✧ Emylia • Helaena
Ren and Emylia both grew up in the shadow of the mighty Targaryens, and exactly that was the reason for their close bond. Just like it had been easy to fall in love with Elaena, it was very easy for Ren to befriend Emylia.
But then shit hit the fan when Mya saved that child from the dragon. Ren didn't understand how Emylia could have a dragon - she's a Baratheon for crying out loud! And not even equipped to ride one. In Ren's opinion, Emylia lacked the proper training and upbringing to earn a dragon and this petty jealousy is exactly why Ren picked a fight with Emylia.
Soon after Emylia stopped coming to see Ren, stopped having conversations or seek her out. Ren felt abandoned, again. They were never able to talk about their fight and the tensions between them remain high to this day.

✧ Tamas (so actually Valhan) • Valkyria
The son of The Braavosi Sealord is nothing like Ren had imagined. She'd imagined someone brutish, boarish, as stupid as he is tall, and yet Tamas is as kind as he is handsome, with a soft- and quietness to him that took Ren by surprise when she first encountered him. She was even more surprised when he offered her tips on sword-fighting and combat, after he busted her training in secret. Not the usual comments on how servant girls shouldn't learn to fight, just.. helpful commentary. Ren doesn't know what to think of it - or of his equally handsome guard who looks oddly a lot like him.
