Iemand vroeg zonet om dit te tekenen, dus dat heb ik dan maar gedaan. Ik weet dat dit soort dingen niet altijd werken, maar ik heb er wel redelijk veel vertrouwen in dat dit niet goedgekeurd gaat worden. (met of zonder deze campagne)
Toch kan het misschien interessant zijn om te weten wat voor belachelijke wetsvoorstellen er gedaan worden.
Imagine being rushed to the hospital but refused treatment because of who you are. Tomorrow, the US state of Virginia will consider a law that allows doctors, teachers, and all companies to deny service to gay, lesbian, and bi people under the guise of “religious or moral conviction”.
The bill is going to a critical vote. If we succeed in convincing members of the committee to vote ‘no’, it will never see the light of day. We need a giant and global public outcry right now to show the committee that citizens in the US and around the world are paying attention.

This law applies to schools and hospitals but also restaurants and other businesses. It could allow teachers to refuse to have gay students in their classes or let movie theaters ban people they even perceive to be gay.
Together, we’ve beat laws like this before - in another US state, Arizona, an outrageous bill was proposed to ban transgender people from using restrooms and locker rooms in local businesses. After thousands of us spoke out with local leaders, Arizona’s legislature was forced to dump the bill.

Het gaat er dus over dat ze een wet willen invoeren die ziekenhuizen, scholen en andere bedrijven het recht geeft om mensen te weigeren die homo, lesbisch of bi zijn. Dit wil zeggen dat deze mensen geweigerd mogen worden om opgenomen te worden in ziekenhuizen, geweigerd worden om les te krijgen of zelfs weigering tot toegang in bioscopen.
