Call me at tea-time.
On one of Millie's late night trips to bar Gaiety she meets Neve, a deeply closeted lesbian, who is more scared of herself than anything else in the world. Millie soon finds herself enchanted by Neve's stunning appearance, and she tries everything to have a normal conversation with the blonde, Irish girl. But Neve gets more and more frightened of herself and what other people think as Millie confronts her with herself over and over again. The two slowly build up a strong friendship, build on discovering each other's secrets, and the perceiving of surpressed and forgotten longings.
As the two girls grow closer together, Millie starts to wonder if they want the same things. And if they do, how do they work it all out?
"I don't know what else to say to you," she whispered quietly.
"I just need an answer," I replied impatiently.
"Give me time," she pleaded.
"Call me at tea-time," I said, "That's the time I give you."

Dane finds out falling in love with two people at the same time is a very convenient, but painful excuse to have an affair with his best mate. He splashes about, not realising; when you splash about, other people get wet...

Mix a little foolishness with your serious plans; it's lovely to be silly at the right moment.
