We zijn gegaan van You will learn respect, and suffering will be your teacher naar compassion is a weakness. Bro. Dat was het punt niet: Zuko spoke out of turn, which humiliated Ozai's ego, and in return ozai wanted to punish and humiliate his son back. And the POOOINT is that our sweet baby zuko refused to fight his father. He kneeled down and was crying; he didn't actually engage in the fight. and even if he had, WHY WOULD YOU THINK that he'd EVER be in a position to look like he's winning??? The show makes it very clear that zuko isn't a firebending prodigy like his sister and that ozai really looks down on him for it. Even to "test" zuko, ozai would never allow it to seem like his 13 yo son bested him at a duel. Are you insane? What the fuck. The scene exists to show Ozai's cruelty, and the burning and banishment isn't something "for zuko's own good in the end" or something ozai is conflicted about. bro saw an opportunity to get rid of his failure of a son and took it. ALSO we're not supposed to see ozai's face yet! that's a big thiiiiiiing stop it i'm mad.

    3) Azula is te vroeg geïntroduceerd

    4) meer dingen die ik atm niet direct kan herinneren want i'm not about to do a rewatch. no. hate hate loathe.

Dan, admittedly: in seizoen 2 zien we tot nu toe best coole stukjes van watersturen etc. Credit where credit is due; it looks cool. Het probleem met de zeeslang van de serpent's pass is op een vreemde manier geïntegreerd en het is jammer, maar okay.

BUT THEY FUCKED WITH THE PERFECTION OF 'ZUKO ALONE'?! wat? wie wat waarom why in the everloving fuck would you do that??? I mean, it's in there--i'd be organising a riot if it wasn't--but they're doing everything wrong?

Where is my environmental storytelling about the area zuko travelled through?

Why does he steal thes supplies from the pregnant couple, when it's a vital story beat that he is tempted but doesn't? We're supposed to learn that zuko, at his core, is a compassionate person. that's like, what the episode is about. so tell me why WHY he suddenly does take it now????

i am fuuuuuming, and i will keep you posted with my thoughts because everyone really wants and needs that rn

IT'S NOT EVEN SOKKA WHO FINDS OUT ABOUT THE ECLIPS?!

Het roddelblad in mij zit gelijk te roepen, 'Girl, spill the teaaaa!' - Maxime

wasn't wan shi tong very clear about not using any of the knowledge they find here to hurt another person? y'all are being awfully loud about using the eclips to attack and kiss those ash-holes goodbye. i dont remember if you all were being this loud about it in the OG but either way it feels like a plothole that the human-hating guardian spirit wouldn't keep a close eye on what the first humans in a 100 years do in his library

Het roddelblad in mij zit gelijk te roepen, 'Girl, spill the teaaaa!' - Maxime

ohmygod do not credit finding out about the eclips to jet. why. why. stop.

    some questions and opinions

    - the scholar dude snitching on them to wan shi tong i actually don't mind. the central focus of his character is wanting knowledge, for knowledge's sake. so the deal he makes to have access to it for eternity... yeah i get it. and leaning hard on the fact that they broke the rules--i hereby peer diagnose him with the 'tism.
On the other hand, wasn't he also against the firenation? he's snitching on some pretty vital information to stop the firenation from being able to harness the awful power of the comet.

    - toph is running away from wan shi tong with the rest of them... without holding on to someone. it was established right away no one could bend here, which means toph really is blind here. we see her offhandedly using echolocation for some orientation, but during a chase scene she'd need help.

    - soooo how the fuck is it that toph ends up WAY in front of the others and gets through the portal thing first and the others are trapped inside? she's the last person who'd get out ahead in this situation

    - andd appa is getting captured. now. when we're plotwise kinda gonna need him again. there's a fuckign reason The Library happens before Ba Sing Se. this blender thing is really getting on my nerves

Het roddelblad in mij zit gelijk te roepen, 'Girl, spill the teaaaa!' - Maxime

BLEUGHHHHHHH jet's heroic sacrifice is shit. not just the script, everything. the directing. the actors. the slow mo. the music. the last words. kill me now.

oh and they dont even know the library is sinking so nobody inside has any sense of urgency

AND AS IF ONE PUNY HUMAN IS GOING TO MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE AGAINST A 1000YO SPIRIT "tiMe tO tRiM tHoSe fEaThErS" who the fuck are you kidding. jet's death was actually a good scene in the cartoon. him saying he'll be okay and telling them to go, and toph softly going "he's lying" under her breath. that, ladies and gentlemen, is storytelling. this is just????? stupid?!

not jet, a relatively skinny dude cos he's regularly starving, s i n g l e h a n d e d l y holding a spirit in the form of a GIGANTIC owl by one of it's claws and STOPPING it in it's tracks, instead of his arm just ripping clean out of it's socket. who gave jet the superhuman strength of the motherfucking sun? what??????

Het roddelblad in mij zit gelijk te roepen, 'Girl, spill the teaaaa!' - Maxime

wan shi tong takes ten valuable seconds (i am not kidding) to hover in mid-air to decide who to kill first.

    A) the three humans three steps away from escaping with knowledge they're going to use to harm others; against his explicit wishes and whom he wants to punish very badly
B ) the one lone human, trapped between won shi tong and the door and with nowhere to go

and the gaang spends five seconds just sitting and watching as a dragon skeleton falls on top of wan shi tong (who wants to kill them badly) and doing nothing, instead of hauling ass. this is also why the cartoon did it better: they didn't waste time staring and aurafarming, AND THEY KNEW THE LIBRARY WAS SINKING AND THEY NEEDED TO GET OUT OR DIE

i hate everything about how jet dies.

yes, netflix. it was an important and impactful moment in the cartoon.
yes, netfilx. i understand you wanted that too.
no, netflix. ignoring the source material and making up your own scene will not hit the same. and by the way, no one cares about jet at this point. so no, the very dramatic death scene is mostly just grating to watch, knowing that time could've been spent much better elsewhere.

Het roddelblad in mij zit gelijk te roepen, 'Girl, spill the teaaaa!' - Maxime

not the gaang finally escaping and then instantly running to jet's body before it disappears, not noticing how toph is holding up the entire fucking library to save their asses. oh and by the way, it doesn't look like it actually is the whole library. it looks like one lone single wall.

ALSO ALSO: in the original cartoon, this happens in the desert. full of sand. toph can't really see well or bend it, which is why she holds on to sokka for most of their trip after. and still, when the library starts sinking, this fifteen story building, she manages to keep it up long enough for the gaang to get out.
    and here....
here it seems to be just about a single wall (and wan shi tongs pressure of making it sink)
and she's on solid ground, so the "greatest earthbender of all time" shouldn't have been struggeling the way she was. the reason she couldn't help appa in the cartoon is because she couldn't hold the building up ánd try to fight, and even then fighting wasn't really possible for her because she can't work with sand. AAAAAAAAAHHHHH

    hE sAvEd uS aLL

no. toph did. fuckers. and she doesn't even get to say what she did? if she's not going to get some sort of credit i am starting a riot

aangs escalating anger and stress about appa being taken isn't portrayed well. he's just.. shouting and then boom avatar state.

    STARTING EPISODE SIX

~at this point i am so beyond disappointed.

"we barely got out of there, toph did what she could"

yes, except that at this point, none of you have yet to catch a clue that the library was sinking and that tophs the only reason you are all still alive. thanks katara for coming to the rescue, but you don't know yet what toph did.

......okay. way to make the metaphor a little too obvious. what is this, a middle school play?

no one stayed seated during the sudden interpative dance sequence that visualises two sides of zuko fighting for dominance.

the plan isn't "planning" like usual? get out of here genZ what😂😂

Uhm? Aang gives up after searching for Appa after one (1) night? I'm sorry, did we watch the same ATLA?
