We zijn gegaan van You will learn respect, and suffering will be your teacher naar compassion is a weakness. Bro. Dat was het punt niet: Zuko spoke out of turn, which humiliated Ozai's ego, and in return ozai wanted to punish and humiliate his son back. And the POOOINT is that our sweet baby zuko refused to fight his father. He kneeled down and was crying; he didn't actually engage in the fight. and even if he had, WHY WOULD YOU THINK that he'd EVER be in a position to look like he's winning??? The show makes it very clear that zuko isn't a firebending prodigy like his sister and that ozai really looks down on him for it. Even to "test" zuko, ozai would never allow it to seem like his 13 yo son bested him at a duel. Are you insane? What the fuck. The scene exists to show Ozai's cruelty, and the burning and banishment isn't something "for zuko's own good in the end" or something ozai is conflicted about. bro saw an opportunity to get rid of his failure of a son and took it. ALSO we're not supposed to see ozai's face yet! that's a big thiiiiiiing stop it i'm mad.

    3) Azula is te vroeg geïntroduceerd

    4) meer dingen die ik atm niet direct kan herinneren want i'm not about to do a rewatch. no. hate hate loathe.

Credit where credit is due; it looks cool.

BUT THEY FUCKED WITH THE PERFECTION OF 'ZUKO ALONE'?! wat? wie wat waarom why in the everloving fuck would you do that??? I mean, it's in there--i'd be organising a riot if it wasn't--but they're doing everything wrong?

Where is my environmental storytelling about the area zuko travelled through?

Why does he steal thes supplies from the pregnant couple, when it's a vital story beat that he is tempted but doesn't? We're supposed to learn that zuko, at his core, is a compassionate person. that's like, what the episode is about. so tell me why WHY he suddenly does take it now????

i am fuuuuuming, and i will keep you posted with my thoughts because everyone really wants and needs that rn

Zuko correcting the shitty earthkingdom soldiers on regulations and their uniforms? Okay, it was superficially fun to watch. Dunno how exactly he'd know, because he'd be very familiar with firenation regulations and not his enemy's. You'd think those would be different and that the soldiers would catch on v e r y quickly that zuko is from the firenation. Different cultures and such. Different military.
But no, either zuko's all knowing and got taught the regulations of earthkingdom uniforms somewhere in his education in the firenation, or all regulations across the universe are the same.

ZUKO ADMITS OUT LOUD THAT HE FEELS LOST? BRO? is this the same zuko who very determindedly broke up with iroh just a day or two before? no, no it's not. keep your fucking character arcs straight, netflix.

AND WHY DOES ZUKO HAVE SEASON 3 HAIR ALREADY?
~Heather Chandler voice: you're doing it wrong!

and i haven't seen my boi's dual swords yet, and that feels criminal.

wowowow, hold up.

    1) lill deus ex machina, don't you think?
    4) with that big boulder launched at her, it really was a missed opportunity for toph to make the ground swallow her up and pop out elsewhere. we zien het haar vijf seconden later alsnog doen, dus waarom niet daar? big sigh.

AND NOOOWW YOU TELL ME ZUKO STARTED FIXING THE ROOF ON HIS OWN VIOLITION?

broederrrrrr.

how to tell me you didn't understand the source material without telling me you didn't watch the scource material.

look at the incapable fucker. zie je al die spijkers waar ze het raster niet eens raken? bro doesn't have a fucking clue what to do. why do you fuck everything up, netflix

[edit: i will admit i'm enjoying the view of the actor's musled arms, but even there netflix is fucking up. zuko is a refugee at the moment, in hiding, hungry, worn out. the original creators made a point to illustrate how gaunt zuko's face gets, losing muscle definition and body fat. so as much as i'm enjoying the view, it still isn't supposed to beeee thereee]

Sokka, upon seeing a painting with the beifongs and kyoshi: "That's Kyoshi? That's not to scale."

now that is how you do a remake and add new things! i laughed. point for you, netflix. you're so far behind it won't matter, but; credit where it is due

not toph and aang having a full conversation about earthbending right next to her parents without them seeming to hear🙄

the whole storyline around toph joining the gaang feels so rushed bro

they "fixed" how zuko's mother seemed to only show affection for him and not for azula. which, from a superficial standpoint, i get. but if you look deeper, as always, it changes things it shouldn't. because her mother preferred zuko, azula was left with her father as the parental figure to get approval from. it's what made her fully who she is. great that you fixed the neglect there, but now whatcha gonn do?

zuko's mom gets caught by soldiers after poisoning Azulon? doesn't that like. make people suspicious ozai was in on the plan? and therefore they shouldn't listen to azulon's last command to make the throne pass to his second son? the point of a plot is that it's secret, bruvs

sokka, to suki (established bad ass who takes no shit) : "I just think you shouldn't be so reckless."
netflix' suki: "I think you know I can take care of myself."

me, an intellectual: jezus, rip suki. they really hated u, huh?

    [edit]
netflix!sokka, a misogynist and manipulator: "no if you don't want to take my fear seriously..."
me: WHOOP HIS ASS, SUKI! HE'S BEING A MISOGYNIST LITTLE BITCH AND YOU DON'T FUCK WITH THAT. RITE???

they're. they're merging... Zuko alone, Blind Bandit, ánd The Chase all into one episode? But-- how do we get the ending of zuko defending the little boy, but still being too proud and telling them who he is and getting shunned for it? How do we get that one tiny moment where the gaang ánd zuko and iroh work together against azula? how do we get the kidnapping of toph and her consequently coming out to her parents and them not accepting it and that being the stressor for her joining them? wha- what?

    i am upset.

Het roddelblad in mij zit gelijk te roepen, 'Girl, spill the teaaaa!' - Maxime

ohmygod the lineup against azula was shot SO bad my lord.
and i guess the little boy and his sister (who actually originates from another important zuko episode but ok) now saw zuko firebend, but the pain in zuko alone comes from him only firebending to protect the kid, and the kid then still hating him because of who he is. it shows us the repercussions of war and how even if you do a small good thing, people aren't just going to forgive you if your people fucking ruined their lives. this... sigh. no.

I'll admit tho: love that they kept in azula's ridiculously long nails for the "you don't see the family resemblance?"
