Warner Bros. announces new ‘Harry Potter’ movies with J.K. Rowling as screenwriter
Warner Bros. has announced a new Harry Potter-related film series based in the world of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

The Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie will be an “original story and will mark Rowling’s screenwriting debut. It is planned as the first picture in a new film series.”

What’s more, the series will focus on the author of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Newt Scamander.

Here is J.K. Rowling’s full statement about today’s announcement:

“Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for seventeen years, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world. The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt’s story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry’s gets underway.

It all started when Warner Bros. came to me with the suggestion of turning ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ into a film. I thought it was a fun idea, but the idea of seeing Newt Scamander, the supposed author of ‘Fantastic Beasts,’ realized by another writer was difficult. Having lived for so long in my fictional universe, I feel very protective of it and I already knew a lot about Newt. As hard-core Harry Potter fans will know, I liked him so much that I even married his grandson, Rolf, to one of my favourite characters from the Harry Potter series, Luna Lovegood.

As I considered Warners’ proposal, an idea took shape that I couldn’t dislodge. That is how I ended up pitching my own idea for a film to Warner Bros.

I particularly want to thank Kevin Tsujihara of Warner Bros. for his support in this project, which would not have happened without him. I always said that I would only revisit the wizarding world if I had an idea that I was really excited about and this is it.”

Tegenwoordig draait alles om geld, maar dat kan me niets schelen. Zolang er maar geweldige films gemaakt worden.

Hoe gek ik ook ben van de boeken en de films van Harry Potter, ik vind het echt dom dat hier een film over gemaakt wordt. Waarom een film maken over ene handboek? Jammer dat ze ook deze boeken perse moeten uitmelken.

Het gaat sowieso niet meer over Harry Potter dus in principe denk ik niet dat ze veel kunnen verpesten.

Huh, oké. Nog steeds komt het, voor mij tenminste, erg onverwacht, maar oké. Ik denk dat ik even tijd nodig heb om te bedenken wat ik hiervan vind. x')

Meer HP in wat voor vorm dan ook klinkt geweldig, maar ook riskant. Het zou jammer zijn als dit een flop werd, en alleen al het feit dat dit niet meer de originele canon is zal veel mensen al voldoende vooroordelen geven om hier eeuwig over te blijven klagen. Aan de andere kant zijn de originele HP films erg goed, dus als ze hier net zo serieus mee bezig gaan, fantastisch. Ik ben in ieder geval heel, heel benieuwd.

Eigenlijk weet ik wel bijna zeker dat het geen flop wordt, ik kan het me gewoon niet voorstellen. Maargoed, we zullen zien!

Nou, ik weet het niet.
Er zullen wss nog wel een aantal aspecten voorkomen in het verhaal.
Soms is het beter om je serie af te sluiten en gewoon te zeggen; dit was het.
Zodat de lezers ook nog genoeg hebben om over na te denken en er ook wat fantasie vrijkomt.

Maar ik wil niet zeggen dat ze het niet goed doen hoor, dat helemaal niet.
Ik ben blij dat er een nieuwe film komt en ik heb er veel vertrouwen in dat ze het goed doen.
Alleen ik hoop niet dat er nog veel meer films van HP komen, omdat ze het verhaal dan uitmelken en dat zou jammer zijn voor een van de beste als het niet de beste serie is in zijn genre, want niemand kan ontkennen dat de Hp boeken & films geweldig zijn
