    Roles open

For years, the Skinwalkers and Nightcrawlers have lived together.
It wasn't always as peaceful in Silverlea, as it is these days.
    The small town in the south of Texas has seen some bloodloss through the years, but for now;
a careful truce has settled between the two rival packs.
A new generation is trying to keep it that way,
but with only one highschool full of vengefull hate and broken hearts; it's going to be a difficult task.
New Alpha's are born and new bonds are made, but will the old ones keep standing?

    WEREWOLVES

    General information
          • Change
The first change happens on the first full moon after the tenth birthday. After that, the change can be controlled. Only when the full moon rises, every werewolf will change, no matter what. Heavy emotions can trigger a change as well and will enlarge the possibilty of the animal's instincts taking over, which can be very dangerous. A werewolf does not look like an ordinary wolf. It's usually bigger, uglier and above all; more lethal. Even humans are able to see the difference and will see them mostly as monsters.
          • Weaknesses
Silver is like any hot metal and will burn a werewolf. Silver weapons are more lethal than ordinary weapons, though it's not necessary to kill a werewolf. Wounds caused by silver heal slower than other wounds.
They are colourblind as a wolf.
          • Strengths
Werewolves have a better sense of smell and hearing, even in humanform. They are also stronger and faster than most humans, and have an excellent stamina. They heal faster than humans.
          • Biology
Werewolves are created through birth. It's a recessive gene, which means most werewolves marry other werewolves. They age like humans, though they are usually healthier and have a bigger chance to a longer life. Their body temperature is quite normal, although it can be a little bit higher than normal.
They usually have big families (3 to 5 children are quite common).
          • Community
There's a rangorder in a pack, which is always respected: The Alpha is the leader and is mostly male, although there are few known female Alpha's. His mate is called the Luna (there is no name for the male mate of a female Alpha). The second in command is or are the Beta(s). If there is more than one, they are usually mated. The rest of the pack follows and at the end, you have the Oméga. It's mostly the weakest member of the pack. Unlike in a normal wolf pack, the Oméga does not have a special job or treatment, though he/she might be bullied from time to time.
Eventhough the rangorders are slightly genetical, every strong werewolf can be the Alpha, but it's really rare when the old Alpha doesn't pass his leadership on to his children. Only an Oméga's child doesn't have to be the next Oméga, though it still happens often.
The higher your rank, the more you feel the connection between the Pack members.
When a werewolf doesn't have a Pack, (s)he's called a Rogue. Rogues are almost always seen as a threat and they seldomly find a new Pack before getting killed.

    Mating
          • What?
When a werewolf meets his soulmate, he or she will know it immediately. There is not really an explanation how or why this happens, they simply know it. This is called mating. Normally, it happens between two werewolves, although there are some cases known of a human mate. It's also not very usual when an Alpha is mated with an Oméga, but it's not impossible.
          • Love?
Mates are attracted to eachother and cannot live without eachother, but this does not mean they are in love. It's perfectly possible to love someone else, but this usually involves a lot of drama. Mating always happens between a male and a female, but this does not mean both the parties involved, are straight. With other words, you can be gay and still be mated. Close relatives (siblings, (grand)parents, (grand)children, cousins) will never be mated.
          • When?
Mating does not happen before the sixteenth birthday. It's perfectly possible your old childhood friend turns out to be your mate. It doesn't mean you will meet your mate on your sixteenth birthday. Some werewolves are a lot older, before being able to discover this special bond. It simply never happens before one's 16th birthday.
          • How?
The mating process will not be finished until a full moon. On one of those nights, the male has to mark the girl. Marking happens by biting the femal in the neck. If this is with mutual approval, the bite will not leave a mark, and the bond is official. If three full moons have passed without the Marking, the bond is broken and the attraction between the two parties, will be gone. It's possible to mate with someone else afterwards. This is also possible, when the previous mate dies.
          • Objection?
You can object a mating and wait until the third full moon, though this might not be as easy as it seems. A male cannot force a female by marking her without permission. If he bites her without permission, the bitemark will be visable, and probably lethal. Ofcourse, the female can fight back and will probably receive help from her Pack if she's in trouble.

    Packs
    Nightcrawlers
          • History
They originate from Greece, but moved to England around the fourth century. They moved again in the 18th century, to America, where they roamed the new land.
1863: They arrived in Silverlea with 15 Adults and 22 children. They tried to settle in, but the humans discovered their true identity.
1870: After they were hunted down by humans, 3 adults and 7 children managed to escape to the nearby town (Bluemere). They still claimed Silverlea as their territory.
1884 - FIRST WAR: The next grown up generation returned to Silverlea, claiming it as their own, eventhough another Pack had settled two years before. They started to kill them, which resulted in a war.
1901 - FIRST GREAT TRUCE: To avoid the previous drama, when the humans discovered their identity, they set up a truce. Eventhough there had been some casualties, the Pack had grown. There were 30 Adults and 25 children at the time.
1930 - SECOND WAR: Due to the Great Depression and other tensions, the truce had been broken and another war begun. This one was started by the Skinwalkers. Right before the fights started, there were 53 Adults and 40 Children
1935 - SECOND GREAT TRUCE: After a lot of casualties, they put down their weapons again. The Pack had shrunk, since there were 46 Adults and 38 Children left.
1935-2002 - WAR/PEACE: The two packs swayed between peace and war many times.
2002 - THIRD GREAT TRUCE: They managed to agree about the territories and made a final pact of peace. It has not yet been broken. At this moment, the Pack consisted of 103 adults and 65 children.
          • Present
In 2015, there were 112 Adults and 70 Children. The Peace is still standing, but since the new generation is growing up, everything can change.
The Pack is very strict and outsiders might not understand their way of living, but almost everyone is very happy to be a Nightcrawler. They are very loyal to the Pack and Alpha, eventhough they can be very cruel against other, lower ranked members. You can't really call them a family, eventhough the group is more important than the individual. The Pack resembles a small, very patriotic country. They are very protective when an outsider touches one of them, eventhough they hurt the Packmember themselves.
          • Hierarchy
    A) ALPHA (1): Benjamin Archibald Cyriacus (42) x (mate) Sophia Cyriacus (deceased)
Children: Mason Alastor Cyriacus (18), ...
    B) BETA (1): ? x (mate) ?
          Children: ...
    C-Y) Others
There are no names for them, but it is custom to put stronger werewolves higher on the social ladder.
    Z) Oméga (1): ? x (mate) ?
          Children: ...

Mates of special ranks do not get that ranking, but are treated that way, unless they are able to fight it off (in case of the oméga).
          • Territory
The territory consists of everything above Silverlea Avenue, including the woods. Since there are no other Packs close by (other than the Skinwalkers), they do not have a clear North boundary, although they do fend off intruders from a certain point.
          • Extra
x Rogues are rarely accepted as new Pack members and it takes more than one generation to be truly accepted.
x The House is a large, square building with a courtyard. Every family has an appartement. The higher your rank, the bigger and more luxurious the place (although they reckon with the size of your family), unless you can pay more to get better, but this is quite difficult.
x Females are slightly less important than males, although their rank is still respected. (For example; Male Bèta > Female Bèta > other werewolves)
x It's highly unusual, but if you want to change the hierarchy, you'll have to duel the werewolf above. This can be until death, but again, that's highly unusual. Every Alpha has been a Cyriacus until now.

    Skinwalkers
          • History
They originate from [Still undecided]. In the 19th century, they moved to America, where they roamed the new land.
1882: They moved to Silverlea, eventhough they were aware of the other Pack. They ignored it, since the other werewolves hadn't been seen around for 12 years. There were 10 adults and 11 children at their arrival.
1884 - FIRST WAR: The next grown up generation of the Nightcrawlers returned to Silverlea, claiming it as their own. They started to attack and even kill Skinwalkers, which resulted in a war. at the beginning, the skinwalkers Pack was formed by 12 adults and 10 children.
1901 - FIRST GREAT TRUCE: To avoid the previous drama, when the humans discovered their identity, they set up a truce. Eventhough there had been some casualties, the Pack had grown. There were 29 Adults and 20 children at the time.
1930 - SECOND WAR: Due to the Great Depression and other tensions, the truce had been broken and another war begun. This one was started by the Skinwalkers, since they were a lot poorer than the Nightcrawlers and were starving. Right before the fights started, there were 54 Adults and 35 Children
1935 - SECOND GREAT TRUCE: After a lot of casualties, they put down their weapons again. The Pack had shrunk, since there were 48 Adults and 30 Children left.
1935-2002 - WAR/PEACE: The two packs swayed between peace and war many times.
2002 - THIRD GREAT TRUCE: They managed to agree about the territories and made a final pact of peace. It has not yet been broken. At this moment, the Pack consisted of 102 adults and 67 children
          • Present
In 2015, there were 114 Adults and 71 Children. The Peace is still standing, but since the new generation is growing up, everything can change0. The Pack is less strict than the Nightcrawlers and seem to be more modern, yet they are not necessary better. They are loyal to the Pack and Alpha, but they won't sacrifise themselves that easily. They treat almost everyone equally and look more like a really big family. Everyone knows eachother quite well, but the individual is almost more important than the group. They are protective of eachother, but not as much as the Nightcrawlers.
          • Hierarchy
    A) ALPHA (1): Hew Iain Sutherland (38) x (mate) 1st: Aurelia Beatriz Sutherland (née Ramiréz) (deceased), 2nd: Lauren Catherine Hughes (35)
Children: Reyna Rosemarie Sutherland (17), Charlie Maxwell Sutherland (6)
    B) BETA (?): ? x (mate) ?
          Children: ...
    & ? x (mate) ?
          Children: ...
    C) Others
Everyone inbetween the Bètas and Omégas have the same ranking.
    D) Oméga (1): ? x (mate) ?
          Children: ...

Mates of special ranks do not get that ranking, but are treated that way, unless they are able to fight it off (in case of the oméga).
          • Territory
The territory consists of everything beneath Silverlea Avenue and the neutral zone, including the woods. Since there are no other Packs close by (other than the Nightcrawlers), they do not have a clear south boundary, although they do fend off intruders from a certain point.
          • Extra
x Rogues are not very often accepted, but it has happened a few times before. Eventhough they aren't trusted immediately, they do become part of the Family after a while.
x It's highly unusual, but if you want to change the hierarchy, there'll be a voting and in some cases a duel; This is never until death.
x The building is similar to the Nightcrawler's building, only a different shape. The size and luxe of the appartement depends on your income.

    SILVERLEA

    Information
          • Location
Silverlea is a small, American town in the southeast of Texas. It's surrounded by woods, with the nearest towns located 40 miles to the North (Bluemere), 43 miles to the South (Springshade), 48 miles to the East (Fallhill) and 59 miles to the West (Dellshore). You can reach Silverlea by car, bus or train. It has a Humid subtropical climate.
          • Mapping
    SEE MAPS
(There are more, smaller streets between the houses and other buildings, which I didn't draw. Too much detail would have been exhausted and simply too complicated. Not everything is the right scale, I'm aware of that, but at least you have an image. There also some shops and bars between the houses, ofcourse.)
The fire departement and police station are near the hospital. I forgot to draw them.
          • History
Silverlea was founded in 1859, by a bunch of woodchoppers. It has never been a very rich, nor poor town. The last woodchopping business disappeared in 1954. You can still find the remains at the edge of the forest in the North (not included on the map). The woodchoppers became merchants, doctors and simple businessmen. It has been a quiet and nice town, or at least in human eyes.
The first werewolfpack arrived in 1863. They called themselves the Nightcrawlers. Eventhough they tried to blend in - there were only 15 (adults) of them at the time - they did not manage to hide their secrets and they were disloged in 1870. Twelve werewolves died, but three of them managed to escape with the children to a 'nearby' town (Bluemere), where they lived until the next generation. They still claimed Silverlea as their territory.
In 1882, another Pack arrived in Silverlea: the Skinwalkers. There were only 10 (adults) of them, but they succeeded to fit in. They knew they were on another's Pack territory, however, they also knew that Pack hadn't visited the place in almost 12 years. This was a mistake.
In 1884, the next generation had grown up and came back to claim what was, in their eyes, their home. They killed a lot of Skinwalkers, without even trying to negotiate, which resulted in a war/ It was quite a silent war, since they both knew revealing their identity to the humans was extremely dangerous. Ofcourse, this was almost impossible, and the humans got suspicious. In 1901, they ended the war, without a clear winner. Eventhough there were a lot of casualties, both the Packs had grown and they decided to split the town and surrounding woods in half. During the following years, this boundary has shifted a couple of times, and the truce has been broken many times.
          • Present
The last (important) fight happened 13 years ago, with many casualties at both sides. Nobody really knows why exactly it started, but both sides agreed it should be the last one. They made some strict rules about the boundaries, settling the territories once and for all. There's also a neutral zone around Silverlea Avenue. Eventhough there still a lot of tension between the rivaling Packs, they managed to live quite peacefully for the past 13 years.
The humans are quite unaware about the supernatural, although many do have the feeling something's odd aboout the small town. They know about the two 'families' and their issues, but ask no questions. Or at least, the adults don't. They are also not surprised and only slightly worried when torn carcasses of animals are found in the woods or they hear the howling of wolves without ever spotting one. They know the old rumours and stories, but do not really believe them, although the suspicion has never gone away.

    Sports
Everyone - human and werewolf - is allowed to join a team.
    American Football:
Because there are no Highschools close enough to organize games on important days like homecoming, there are two teams. Through the years, they have received the name of the Packs. It is very rare, yet not impossible, for a werewolf to join the opposite team. This usually happens when they are aiming for a sportscareer and the own team doesn't have a free spot. This is the same for cheerleading.
