Prisoner
My legs are prison walls.
They show the marks
Of restrained calls.
They show the marks
I tried to hide.
Like a prisoner,
Protecting my pride.
Look at me and you’ll see
The shield of lies.
The smile that weeps,
Stating everything is fine.
Know me and you’ll know
Scars do seem to grow,
And never to die.
Telling me everything would be fine,
That was just a lie.
They judge the striped walls,
Even though my prison days
Might be behind.
They judge the one who chose the path
That is odious and a shame,
Though they don’t even know
More than my name.
My legs are prison walls.
They show the marks
Of restrained calls.
They show the marks
I tried to hide.
Like a prisoner,
Protecting my pride.
Look at me and you’ll see
The shield of lies.
The smile that weeps,
Stating everything is fine.
Know me and you’ll know
Scars do seem to grow,
And never to die.
Telling me everything would be fine,
That was just a lie.
They judge the striped walls,
Even though my prison days
Might be behind.
They judge the one who chose the path
That is odious and a shame,
Though they don’t even know
More than my name.

We dwaalden en verdwaalden en noemden sterren naar onszelf.
