Het is heel makkelijk; Je telt het aantal broers en zussen dat je hebt op bij het getal dat er staat (tel jezelf niet mee!). Als je geen broers of zussen hebt zeg je; Alleen.
Als iemand 'alleen' gezegd heeft, starten we weer bij nul.

Tellen stiefbroers en stiefzussen ook?
- Ja, deze tellen mee.

Tellen halfbroers en halfzussen ook?
- Ja, want het is jouw bloed.
