Marvins rooskleurige vooruitzicht om in de toekomst te studeren aan een dramaschool wordt bruut beëindigd wanneer zijn ouders hem uit huis zetten met de boodschap dat hij zijn eigen hachje maar moet redden. Hij accepteert het aanbod om bij zijn beste vriend Jim in te trekken, maar daarmee zijn nog niet alle problemen opgelost. Waar moet hij het geld vandaan halen om zijn droom te verwezenlijken? Per toeval pikt Marvin iets op van The Devil’s Handbag, een hoeren-entertainmenttent voor meerderjarigen waar de lonen absurd hoog zijn. Verkleed als meisje solliciteert hij naar een baan en daar begint een verhaal waaraan hij eigenlijk niet had moeten deelnemen. Hij zal zijn acteertalent in ieder geval hard nodig hebben, want wie hij daar toevallig tegen het lijf loopt…
Marvin maakt kennis met de wereld van vrijwillige prostitutie en de problemen die hij als Mistress Mariëlle, zijn vrouwelijke alter ego, nooit onder ogen zou komen. Langzaam maar zeker ondergaat Marvin een identiteitssplitsing en moet hij kiezen tussen zijn normale, problematische leven als Marvin en zijn collega’s en baan bij The Devil’s Handbag als Mariëlle. Maar hij is niet de enige die de gevolgen op zijn neus krijgt gedrukt; de groep die slechts één kant van Marvin kent, breidt zich alsmaar uit.

Elena Fields werkt als sportfysiotherapeut in Londen en heeft een vreselijke hekel aan voetballers. Dan krijgt ze van haar oom een baan bij FC Barcelona aangeboden, eigenlijk ziet ze die baan helemaal niet zitten en wil er niet op in gaan. Maar dan realiseert ze zich dat ze met het salaris dat daar te verdienen is haar jongere zusje, Caitlin, kan helpen. Die verlaten is door haar vriend en met een baby in haar buik en een lege bankrekening thuis zit. Ze neemt zich voor in Barcelona gewoon te kijken hoe het gaat, en zo snel mogelijk terug te keren als Caitlin weer op de goede weg is. Alleen loopt dit niet helemaal volgens plan als Mister Brown Eyes in haar leven komt.
