Beautiful or intelligent?
I once asked a friend
if she would rather be
called beautiful or
intelligent.
She said beautiful.
For hours afterward
I wondered why she
had said beautiful.
Because anyone can
be beautiful,
anyone can slap
some makeup on
and be called beautiful.
But not everyone can be
intelligent.
Not everyone can soothe
a crying friend,
not everyone can light
up a room full of darkness.
Stop worrying about looks,
and think about what
really matters.
Not everyone can be intelligent.
