A 21-year-old man from Maryland is facing charges for one of the most foolish crimes ever.
Joshua D. Shelton managed to get very drunk one night during a small party he attended. The event has been organized by a girlfriend of his in a small house located in a Delmar chicken farm.
Unfortunately, the heavy drinking led to the most disastrous events that followed. Joshua was probably trying to find his way home but instead he passed out inside the chicken houses control room. He was wearing only his underwear and a T-shirt.
To make the situation even worse he switched off the ventilation as well as the food and water systems supporting the lives of nearly 70,000 chickens allocated in the three chicken houses.
It was concluded that the intoxicated man cut the circuit breakers by mistake while looking for the light switch. The result was 70,000 dead chickens and a lot of embarrassment. The farm and the chickens belonged to the father of Joshua’s girlfriend and his actions didn’t make him look good at all.
The total cost of the damage was estimated at $20,000 and the guilty Joshua is facing criminal charges for burglary and destruction of private property.
