Yasu was born into one of the most influential families in North Korea, a dynasty with close ties to the regime. Her family was known for its power, wealth, and unwavering loyalty to the state. Her father held a high-ranking military position, while her mother, a diplomat, conducted secret negotiations with other East Asian countries. Yasu and her younger brother, Isagi, grew up in a world of luxury and privilege but were also subjected to suffocating expectations.
From a young age, Yasu and Isagi were sent to Switzerland to receive their primary education, like many children of the North Korean elite. They enjoyed a life of abundance, surrounded by wealth, exclusive schools, and endless opportunities. While Isagi effortlessly conformed to the familys expectations, Yasu felt trapped. Her life had already been planned for hershe was to become a diplomatic pawn, an heir to the regime. But deep inside, she wanted only one thing: escape.

Yasus chance came when she accompanied a state visit to China. She had spent months secretly preparing and knew this was her only opportunity to disappear under the radar. During a diplomatic dinner, she slipped away, disguised herself as an unremarkable traveler, and took a smuggling route to Japan. With North Korean intelligence hot on her heels, she managed to go into hiding in the streets of Tokyo.
However, she had a problem: she had no identity papers, no money, and no one to help her. Until she met Kazu Kuwokawa, the son of a powerful Yakuza family. He saw her potential but knew that she would be nothing without an identity. I can give you an identity and a job, he told her. All you have to do is trust me and become part of something greater.

Yasu had little choice. She agreed to Kazu's proposal, but what he asked for was more than just loyalty: he wanted to bind her to an ancient, forbidden curse. The curse tethered her to a Shinigami, a death spirit that granted her powers in exchange for sacrifices.
What the shinigami offers her:
Dream Infiltration (夢侵入 - Yume Shinnyū) - Enter people's dreams, planting thoughts.
Shadow Walker (影歩き - Kage Aruki} Temporarily turn invisible and move through shadows.
Shape-Shifting (変身 - Henshin) Change appearance for a short amount of time.
Shadow Manipulation (影の操縦 - Kage no Sōjū) - Manipulate darkness and shadows, using them for concealment, transportation, or attacks.
But every power had a price. The first price she had to pay was a life to cement their pact. The Shinigami demanded a soul, and in a moment of dark retribution, Yasu chose her niece. This girl had tormented her and Isagi for years with magic, a sadist who had made their lives a living hell. When her niece really died, Yasu felt a pang of guilt.
Another price that Yasu wasnt aware of was that making deals with the Shinigami affected her own magic. At first, she could no longer cast a simple Lumos, but recently, after making more bargains, she has lost the ability to conjure a Patronus. Now, she fears what other parts of her magic she might be losing.
Her tasks under the Yakuza family also became more sinister. She was ordered to influence politicians, infiltrating their dreams and subtly steering them toward policies that aligned with Kyoyas family interests. Whether it was securing alliances or ensuring loyalty, Yasus abilities became a tool for manipulation. Yet, each time she invaded a mind, she felt her grip on her own magic slipping further. The more she relied on the Shinigamis power, the weaker she became, trapped in an ever-deepening cycle of dependence.

Now, Yasu lives under a new identity and has enrolled in the Ryujin Sorcery Institute. Kyoyas sister studies there, and he has assigned Yasu to keep an eye on her. At the same time, Yasu is searching for a way to break the curse of the Shinigami that constantly follows her. She studies Ancient Magic, hoping to find a way to free herself from the shadow that haunts her.
To her shock, she was selected for the Taeguk Trials. No one knows exactly how candidates are chosen, but refusing is impossiblethe magical punishment is worse than death. Now, she must not only survive the deadly tournament but also continue paying the price for her powers
before the Shinigami decides that it is her time to die.

Misses her brother like hell but tells herself she doesn't
Escaped north korea to avoid being a political pawn, now is exactly that in Japan. Great plan Yasu, great plan.
Bisexual
Had to get her wand altered after she was cursed and now has a dual core with a thestral tail hair that is tied to death and the unseen, strengthening Yasus connection to the Shinigami and dark magic. Without the adjustment to her wand, it didn't work anylonger.
Wand: Ebony wood, kitsune whisker & thestral tail hair (dual core), 11.5 inches, unyielding.
Boggart: Herselfonly its not truly her anymore. Her shadow moves unnaturally, stretching and writhing as if something unseen is trying to claw its way out. When she tries to move, she doesn't control her own bodythe Shinigami does.
