Gemstone: Black Onyx
Full name: Fiyero Gabriël Arch
Nickname: Jack Doe. This is how he will introduce himself to any stranger. Only once he gets to know someone and has acquired some level of trust for and from them will he reveal his real name to them.
Much to his displeasure, people tend to call him Fi when they’ve learned his real name.
The few who had the nerve to call him Gabriël or Gabe were rewarded with a punch right in the face. Fi he can live with, if the other person is persistent, but he will not allow anyone addressing him with his middle name, full or abbreviated.
Place of birth: Winnipeg, Canada.
Date of birth: Fiyero was born on November 8th, 1992.
Sex: would like some, but hasn’t had any yet. Male.
Sexuality: Unclear. Fiyero prefers to stay away from people and avoid any feeling remotely similar to affection or love. He knows he’s into girls, but he has no idea if he could be attracted to another man since it hasn’t occurred up until today.
Ethnicity: Caucasian, Canadian. Fiyero’s skin is so pale, it’s almost translucent. Yet he doesn’t have a sickly pallor.
Race: Gemheart.
Blood type: O-
Height: 1.82 m (5.97 ft)
Weight: 68kg (10.7 stones)
Hair colour: Ash brown
Eye colour: icy blue / grey, depending on the light
Clothing style:
Fiyero’s wardrobe is very easy to distinguish from any other. There is no single speck of vibrant colour in it. He prefers to wear tight black jeans, or occasionally leather pants if he’s in a mischievous mood, combined with a simple, equally tight and black, T-shirt –or a tank when it’s hot. When he’s having a good day you might find him in a red/black lumberjack shirt which he casually leaves hanging open, or in a royal blue snuggly fitting hoodie. Yet don’t be fooled into thinking that he only chooses to wear colour when in a kind mood. If he is wearing a green or a burgundy chemise, you can bet he is up to no good.
It is obvious that he chooses his outfit according to his mood, and that the presence or lack of colour means absolutely nothing. The best thing to look for is which kinds of colours he is wearing. Deep, enticing colours indicate it is better not to approach him. Black is neutral, and mixed colours or blue mean that he is in good spirits.
When it comes to shoes, you will only see Fiyero wear his combats or a pair of worn, black –what did you expect- All stars. He might also have a pair of black Vans in the back of his closet, but he rarely wears those.
He will at all times, except when he’s alone or sleeping wear his black cuff watch and a black studded bracelet to hide his wrists.
Extra details:
Fiyero is really into art, tattoos more specifically. On his wrists he has the following; “Who is the monster?” and “And who is the man?”
It’s a question that’s been haunting him ever since he was old enough to think of it. He’s been treated like an object for as long as he can remember, because of his being a Gemheart, his being different. And it made him wonder: Am I being treated like this for being a monster, or are they the monsters for treating me like this?
On his back/shoulder blades he has a pair of wings. They’re sort of an inside joke to him, referring to his name. He does not agree with the middle name and surname he was given, and far less with the reason behind why he was given that specific name. It’s a sign of him rebelling against what has been decided for him.
He also has a navel piercing. It's a little ring, with a black Onyx orb on it. His body mods are not out of pride though, they’re something for him to look at in the mirror, instead of seeing himself in it.
Fiyero is very self-conscious about his body, even though he is quite muscular due to swimming fifty laps in the pool each day.
Likes:
- Fiyero, as mentioned above, is really into art. Body art is one of his fascinations, but he can easily stare at a painting for hours and not get bored with it. From the colours to the sweeps of the brush, it all intrigues him.
Yet he hasn’t the patience or a steady enough hand to paint or draw, himself.
- Something else Fiyero never gets sick of is watching black/white movies. One of his all-time favourite actors is James Dean and he has a deep admiration for Fred Astaire.
- Spanking the monkey. This doesn’t need explanation, really. He’s a 21-year-old virgin, of course he’s sexually frustrated and a man’s gotta what a man’s gotta do. He prefers to “unwind” in the shower, though because there’s less chance of being caught and it’s easier to clean up.
- Music. Fiyero loves to both play and listen to music. He's a master at playing the guitar, but any other instruments have proven to be too difficult for him to learn to play properly. Fiyero is a man of little patience and only for learning to play the guitar did he have enough determination to stick through.
- Rain. There isn't any type of weather that brings Fiyero into better spirits than rain. He enjoys the sight and sound of it. To him it’s nature’s lullaby, it soothes him like few other things do. Occasionally, he might be found sitting in the rain, get soaked and loving every minute of it.
- Archery. There are two reasons why Fiyero likes this sport so much. Firstly, it’s great way for him to occupy his mind and keep out the otherwise ever present thoughts of gloom and doom. He likes the thrill of it. And secondly, it gives him at least the impression of being able to defend himself, seeing as he does not enjoy using his fists.
- Books. Reading page after page is the perfect way for Fiyero to escape everything around him. He can get so absorbed in a story, he’s literally blind and deaf to all else.
Dislikes:
- People. At all times, Fiyero will tend to avoid others, keep them from getting close to him. He does not trust humans, nor Gemhearts and most definitely not Warlocks.
- Fog. As much as he loves rain, so much does he detest fog. It triggers a panic reaction in him, the reason to that will be explained below.
- Mirrors. Fiyero does not like looking at himself. Shaving is a torture because he has to examine his face up close, so he tends to only do it once a week.
Characteristics:
Behaviour-wise Fiyero could be much compared to a cat. He can sit in a corner, reading a book or stalk someone without anyone ever noticing he’s there. He often prefers solitude and feels perfectly fine ignoring someone even if they are talking to him. When he rouses, he often scares the living hell out of his housemates because of his being near invisible so much of the time. If Fiyero is missing, it’s best to go looking for him in the dark and quiet corners of the house, or his room. It’s where he likes to linger.
Though Fiyero will never admit it out loud, he’s much more emotional than he leads others to believe. Showing his true feelings is one of his biggest fears. Vulnerability is a weakness in his eyes, and he’d rather push people away and feel lonely than let people close and talk about what keeps him awake at night. Caring for others has always lead to bad situations for him, and he’s been hurt so deeply because of it that he’s developed a flight reaction in which he avoids others to keep them from getting to know him. So, Fiyero puts on a mask. A damn good one, at that. He keeps silent around others, to start with, and when he does talk it’s usually an attempt to try and pick a fight. Fiyero actually tries to discourage people to like him, he wants to make them hate him or just wants them to be seriously pissed with him. That’s why he often borrows things without asking first, tends to ravage his housemates’ rooms when they’re out or just snaps at them when they ask him one too question too many. Patience is not one of his virtues.
Despite all of that, Fiyero is very loyal. Loyal in the way that he’s very grateful when someone decided to help him, and will always try his best to return the favour. Even though he’s not always kind to them, he would never hurt another Gemchild. He might not let them come close to him, but he realizes well enough that they’re the only family he has and he would do anything to protect them. Fiyero would die trying to save another Gemchild, even if he owed them nothing. Because in his eyes, that’s what family does and he wants to do what nobody has ever done for him. This characteristic will only surface in times of desperation and severe danger, though.
Even though Fiyero might be easy to piss of and has a short fuse, he will rarely directly take out his anger on his housemates, even if they are the cause of it. So, occasionally, Fiyero might be found throwing plates into the wall, smashing furniture or creating a carpet of feather by ripping apart some pillows. His level of anger is easily recognized. If he’s cussing and screaming, it might actually work if someone tries to calm him down and soothe him. If he’s silently wrecking something, it’s best not to approach him for he would never physically damage another of his kind, but if he’s mad enough he might not be stopped in breaking them down verbally. Usually it’s not even personal, but when Fiyero is mad his brain short circuits and he will only realize what he’s done when his fit is over.
There is almost no way to know what is going on in Fiyero’s brain, but he always has a reason for doing the things he does. He is far smarter than he acts to be. Fiyero has a tendency to think everything through before acting, which might make him come across as lazy sometimes, whilst in fact he is actually actively thinking about the conundrum posed to him. He will think and rethink, doubt and change his decision after it’s been made. Rushing him into doing something is a very risky business.
Family History:
When Fiyero was born, his mother was very proud of her baby boy. She loved him beyond measure and took very good care of her seemingly endlessly sick baby. When Fiyero, at the age of eight months, was kept in the hospital because of a pneumonia, the truth surfaced. Doctors discovered he was a Gemheart, and as much as his mother loved him before, she loathed the babe twice as much now. She wanted nothing to do with him, and left him in the hospital without ever returning for him.
One of de doctors, Alfred Boone, had a fascination for Gemchildren and took home little Fiyero. His wife was furious, seeing as she had only recently given birth to a daughter of their own and immediately rejected Fiyero.
For keeping the peace in his family, Alfred never allowed Fiyero to address him as “dad”. The boy was learnt to call him “Doctor Boone”.
When Fiyero got older and stronger, the doctor started to experiment on him and testing the boy’s abilities. Fiyero was grateful for the roof over his head, the comfy bed and the food on the table and didn’t say anything about it, quietly undergoing his fate. He never once complained about the frequent aches the experiments caused him.
Years went by, and Fiyero watched doctor Boone lose a painful struggle with a nasty lung cancer. He was heartbroken when the man died, and found comfort in the arms of the Boone’s daughter; Wendy. It was innocent kind of love, really, the one that put a blush to both of the teenagers’ cheeks by just their holding of hands. But of course, mrs Boone would not have Fiyero anywhere near her beloved daughter. She sent for a Hunter to come pick up Fiyero and take him to a Warlock.
The Hunter, however, turned out to possess a mean streak. He gave Fiyero a lead, before hunting him down like startled deer.
Fiyero, being smart as he was, did not run. Instead, he hid in a bush and bid his time, until the hunter would be far enough away for him to safely come out. He sat there for three days and two nights. When he’d finally plucked up the courage to come out, he ran in the opposite direction the hunter had sent him. This had turned out to be a mistake quickly, though. Because soon enough, Fiyero found himself lost in the forest. He roamed for days, and days turned into weeks and food was scarce and the only water he got was by licking rain and dewdrops from the leaves of the trees and grass.
The only thing that kept him going was the sheer will to live. Eventually, his body caught up with him anyhow and he passed out on the forest floor.
Luckily for him, Raisa’s house was only a few yards away and soon enough she found him. Because of her saving him, she is the only person Fiyero trusts. One of the reasons he lets her closer than anyone else, is because there is no way Fiyero would love her in any other way than a mother-son relation, and Fiyero sorely misses a mother. He feels safe around her, and can listen to her stories endlessly with an unequalled fascination.
Since the day she brought him to the house, he has rarely left and has always tended to be wary of newcomers.
