PROLOOG

It is the year 1998.

We are in the middle of a forest close by Long Island. The full moon shines in the sky and the only thing you hear are the night animals who are hunting for food. Suddenly the night silent was broken by a weird screaming noise. The 15 year-old-girl who hid herself in the woods sneaks closer to the screaming sound. The girl is none other than the Goddess Artemis who was hunting in her favourite human form. Artemis follows the noise to an open space in the middle of the forest where a men is standing with a blanket in his arms. The noise is coming from out of the blanket, it is the sound of a crying baby. The man sigh again theatrical and lies the baby on the trunk in front of him. The baby moves so violent that the blanket falls off and it's plain to see that there is a little girl in the blanket. Artemis her hatred against the men was growing since the moment she saw him, she didn’t liked him but what he is doing to the little girl struck all. His plan to leave the little girl to her faith made Artemis feel sick. The baby keeps crying and the man sighs again, “Keep quiet for once”: he screams to the little girl who only starts to cry harder. “Just as useless as your mother”: he mumbles and walks away.

Artemis can’t hold back any longer and with one swing of her hand the men turns into a stag. She raises her silver bow puts an arrow in it from her silver quiver, she aims and shoots the men without mercy. She walks to the men, gets her arrow out of him and ties his legs together with the rope she was carrying. She hangs him to a tree and skins him with her hunters knife there she lets him behind for the wolves. She wipes her bloody hands clean in the grass and walks to the still crying baby. As soon as she picks up the baby, the baby stops crying. “Hello little one, I wish I could take you with me but that would be to dangerous but I will find a good home for you”: soothed Artemis the little girl. The little girl puts out her cubby little hands towards the hairband Artemis is wearing. It looks like the hairband is glowing Silverlight because the moonlight reflects of it. “You like it?”: talks Artemis towards the girl and walks further into the forest. During the walking she takes off her hairband and gives it to the girl who holds it immediately in her chubby little hands. The girl answers this gesture with a giggle which makes Artemis smile. Artemis walked back to into her camp where the Huntress wait for her. As soon as she walks in comes Zoë towards her. “My lady what do thee brought with?”: Zoë asks with heavy old English accent. On that moment the baby girl laughs happy and waves with the hairband in her tiny hands. “A baby?”: Zoë asks. “Yes a men dumped her in to the woods poor thing”: explains Artemis, “I want you to take a few Huntress and go look for the nearest house where you feel good about”. Zoë nods, “Yes my lady it’s for the girl I presume”. “Yes Zoë now please go, this is no place for this girl”. Zoë nods again and walks out of camp while she walks she signs two girls who go with Zoë. Artemis sits with the other Huntress at the bonfire. Suddenly Artemis looks three years younger between the Huntress which she sees as her daughters.

“My Lady”, Zoë runs towards Artemis and the baby girl. “We found a home we think could be good for her”. “Thank you Zoë show me the way”: says Artemis and gets up with the girl still in her arms, only now the baby sleeps. Artemis walks calm but quick after Zoë through the woods. Approximate ten minutes later they stop at the border of the forest where a little cabin is standing. The two other Huntress were waiting for Zoë to return with Artemis. “My Lady we only saw one men in the cabin he looks kind of sad but feels good and safe”: says one of them. “Thanks Summer”: Artemis says and walks to the front door where she lies the baby down. “Be safe and come look for me when you’re sick of boys I will accept you”. Artemis kisses the girl on her forehead and walks away from the door. . “My Lady your headband the girl still has it”: says the other girl named Meg. “It’s oke Meg she may need it more than I do”: says Artemis and with the wave of her hand she has a new hairband only this one is white and glows not so bright yet. With another wave of hand the wind blows harder and knocks on the door. Because of the knocking the girl wakes up and starts crying. Quick the three Huntress and Artemis hid to see what happens next. A men opens the door and looks down on the girl. “Poor thing”: mumbles the men and looks around, Well then I will take you in”. the men picks up the girl who stops crying immediately again and he walks back the cabin in. “Let’s go ladies, she is in good care now”: says Artemis and that’s how the leave the cabin behind them. Artemis knew the girl was in good hands and that this was not the last time they would see her
