“Good morning dad.” Zoë said while walking into the kitchen, seeing her dad sitting at the table with a cup of coffee and his newspaper, just like every single morning.
“Good morning ZoZo.” her dad replied with a grin. “Dad, please stop using that nickname. You know I hate it. I’m almost eighteen. I’m not I child anymore. Plus because of you Amy uses it against me.” She heard Amy chuckle behind her. “I’m sorry Zoë. It’s just you grew up so fast. I guess I still see you as my little ZoZo.” her dad replied sadly. Zoë sighed quietly and walked up towards her dad and hugged him from behind resting her chin on his shoulder. “I know it’s hard dad, but you have to try and accept the fact that I’m not always going to be your little girl.” She kissed his cheek and walked back to the cupboard to get some cereal. Amy sneaked up next to her. “Ask him” she whispered. “Eh.. Dad?” Zoë asked hesitantly. “Yeah?” her dad looked up at her. “Eh.. there’s this party Friday night to celebrate the beginning of the last year of high school and-“ “NO, Zoë you know I don’t like you to be at those parties this time a year. We always spend this time a year together and I am planning on doing it the same this year.” Her dad interrupted her. Zoë shrugged at Amy saying she did try. Amy however didn’t gave up. “With al do respect mister Edwards, but it is Zoë’s last year of high school and mine too. And I really would appreciate it if Zoë could accompany me to this party so we can celebrate this special moment of our lives together.” Zoë’s jaw almost hit the floor when these words enter her friends mouth. Zoë heard her dad sigh and opening his mouth to talk. “Okay fine, you can go Friday, but I will bring you girls and I will pick you up when the party ends.” Amy shrieked and jumped up and down shouting a millions of ‘thank you’s’ to my dad. “Dad it’s really okay if you don’t want me to.. OW!” Zoë ducked down to grab her foot which Amy just stamped on. Zoë shot Amy a dead glare, but got scared when Amy shot her a face that told her just to shut up. “Thank you mister Edwards.” Amy said. “We will accept your offer to drive us, don’t we ZoZo..?” Amy asked suspiciously. Zoë nodded. “Yeah.. Thank you dad. We need to head out now otherwise we will be late.” With that Zoë kissed her dad on the cheek and headed out with Amy. When out of sight of her father Zoë hit Amy at the back of her head. “OW! What was that for?” Amy whimpered. “For ambushing my dad like that, the poor man didn't knew what came to him and for calling me ZoZo even after I asked my dad not to.” Amy chuckled. “Sorry Zoë, but you know how I am, I always get what I want and parents just love me!” Zoë chuckled. Yep her best friend was a bit crazy sometimes and knew what she wanted and how to get it, but she loved every part about her and wouldn't change it for the world.
