Hier is een korte introductie
Gadeck is ter dood veroordeeld, maar in plaats van zich in zijn lot te schikken, ontsnapt hij. Als prinses Charlotte hem daarbij zowat in de armen loopt, gijzelt hij haar. Hij besluit om haar mee te nemen naar zijn leider Arnulf, maar voor het zover is, vindt hij de zwaargewonde Walter.
