I try to understand
why I have twenty toes and fingers
or why my geographic teacher
is a dick
or maybe why adolf hitler
had the urge to kill
those who were vulnerable

I try to understand
why people are against gays
so bad
or why the boy from school
killed himself last year
or maybe why kids murder
each other these days

I could be fine with nine toes
and eleven fingers too
I haven't had geography since
a year ago and
I can't turn back time to prevent adolf hitler
from his deeds

I can't remember the time
when it was confirmed by every single human
on earth that only heteros
are okay
I can't go up to heaven to
talk with that boy
and get him back
I have never been able to stop these cultures to form
where kids get guns and shoot
when they don't get their candy

or maybe I should stop thinking
about it
and stop trying to understand
because I'll never understand
any bit of it

just like I don't understand
why you had to go
without any words to leave

so I'll stop trying and move on
like you exactly told me to do
in your unsaid words
