The Curse Of Joseph Merrick

I seems like forever since I walked without my mask, coat and hat through the open air,
I could only take them off during the freak-show, from the moment they first took me there.

The supervisor was called Bytes, a dark-hooded man who searched for freaks from all over the earth,
women, men and children who were different by accident, on purpose or have been since birth.

There are those who believe that my body and soul are cursed,
Because of my mutilations, my body, my skin, but my face is the worst.
I didn’t want all those people to laugh at me for how I looked on the outside,
But I didn’t have a choice, they would how me captive until I died.

Then some doctors payed Bytes a lot of money to run some tests on me,
I hated all those people, they watched but didn’t really see.
The doctors thought I was mentally ill and I’d never be healed as far as they knew,
While they kept doing test and held me in that hospital, I read books and liked to drew.

When the government founded a budget for the hospital to keep me for all-time care,
Bytes got angry, he wanted me back on the freak-show and abducted me from there.

I was back in the freak show where people where laughing at my face,
With the help of some other freaks, I escaped from that awful place.

I tried to flee back to Londen, but I was beaten up by anxious people who were afraid of me,
The cops came to late, that night my curse was broken, I was finally set free.

People say I looked like an animal, a beast or even worse,
‘The Elephant Man’ is how they’d call me, that’s wasn’t my name; it was my curse.

O my God, dit is echt zo verschrikkelijk goed! Ik doe ook mee aan de gedichtenwedstrijd, maar als ik dit lees denk ik dat ik echt niet ga winnen!
