Leave me brokenhearted. {{Part Two
The party was blasting from wall to wall, echoing Usher through its giant speakers. Selena held her red cup on her fingertips, talking to her friend Taylor. Every now and then, she'd look at the door for any sign of Nick.
He came at around 9:30, an hour after Selena. She smiled when she saw him enter the door and greet his friends. She excused herself from Taylor and started to squeeze herself from the crowd to get to Nick.
She was only a few steps far from Nick. Her smile got wider to greet him. But before she could even get to him, before he could even see her, head cheerleader, Kaycee Carlisle, came over to Nick's side and smirked.
He left with Kaycee hooked on to his arm as if they were together. Selena frowned watching this.
Through the rest of the night, Selena gave out multiple trials to get to Nick. But with every journey she's made, he would always be surrounded by girls. He would have a big smile on his face as he shared his time with them. He'd laugh at their stories and offer to get them another drink. He was having fun and she wasn't even remotely near him.
All she wanted was for them to be together—not to sound desperate and pathetic. All these signals and gestures that Nick sent to her really made her think that they had something. Was she just lying to herself all this time? Was she being naïve? Or... was Nick just leading her on?
This afternoon, she was expecting a happy ending, but now... it looks like she's going home brokenhearted tonight.
She dug her fists into her jacket's pockets as she made her way down the street, forgetting the past. The cold wind pushed through her long hair as the dark night overwhelmed her feelings. She felt so stupid thinking that Nick Jonas would actually fall for her.
Just then, she heard fast paced footsteps creeping up behind her.
"Selena!" someone called. She recognized the voice.
She turned around and saw Nick running after her. He stopped inches before her.
"Nick?"
Puffs of air came out of his mouth as he caught up with his breath. "I'm sorry if I wasn't able to spend time with you. I tried to, I did, but the cheerleaders kept coming on to me. I'm sorry."
She shrugged as if it was nothing. "Forget about it. You looked like you were having fun, anyway."
"But I wasn't." he said. "I didn't even want to come to this party, but when you said that you were—"
She chook her head, wondering. "Why?"
"So, I can give you this..." he lingered his fingers on her chin as he slowly leaned down, landing his lips on hers.
It took a while for Selena to take it in, but Nick Jonas was actually kissing her. He felt the same way as she did.
When he took his lips off, he wrapped his arms around her waist and smiled. "I've wanted to do that for a while now."
She wrapped her arms around her neck and smiled. "Same here..."
"Can I call you mine, baby?" he asked.
Selena lit with that question and the fact that he called her baby. It's exactly what she's been wanting all night.
"Of course..." she finally said.
