Snel doe ik de deur weer dicht als ik Liam en Zayn in de keuk heb zien zitten. Niet het goede moment om te storen. Er was dus duidelijk wel iets aan de hand met Zayn, maar het heeft niks met mij te maken, aangezien het om Chloë ging. Ik haal opgelucht adem terwijl ik weer terug loop richting Niall en de bank. “I thought you were going to get some more orange juice?” zegt hij terwijl hij me vragend aan kijkt. “Yea, but Liam and Zayn were in the kitchen, and Zayn was crying, so I don’t think it was the right moment…” verklaar ik. “Zayn was crying?” vraagt hij ongelovig. Ik knik. “Do you know who Chloë is?” vraag ik dan. Hij schudt zijn hoofd. Jammer, ik had het graag willen weten. “So, what are we going to do today?” vraag ik dan. “Well, mayby you would like to see us sing? Because we’ve got a performance tonight.” stelt hij voor. “I would love to!” zeg ik enthousiast. Niall kan echt heel mooi zingen, en ik ben echt benieuwd naar de rest van de jongens. Hij glundert vrolijk. Ik staar naar hem. Naar zijn vrolijk twinkelende ogen, naar zijn warrige blonde haar en naar zijn prachtige lippen. “Can you see it?” grijnst hij. Ik voel mijn wangen kleuren. “I-I’m sorry...” stamel ik. “Doesn’t matters” zegt hij met een knipoog. Kunnen mijn wangen nog roder worden? “I’m going to take a shower” zeg ik snel en ik verlaat de kamer.

Switch to Niall’s view
Zenuwachtig loop ik heen en weer te ijsberen door de kleedkamer. “Niall, relax!” hoor ik Harry vanaf de gang roepen. Ik zet me neer op een stoel en begin zacht te neuriën. “Do you think she’ll like it?” vraag ik onzeker aan Harry die net binnen komt lopen. “Sure she will! It isn’t hard to see that she’s in love with you.” grijnst hij. Ik voel mijn hart in mijn keel kloppen. Optreden vindt ik normal helemaal niet eng meer, maar deze bijzondere keer wel. Ik ben doodsbenauwd dat ze me af zal wijzen. “It’s time guys!” roept Liam. We staan op en lopen richting het podium. Liam zet in met What makes you beautiful en iedereen lijkt gek te worden. Ik glimlach even als ik zie hoeveel fans er zijn gekomen. Maar voor mij is op dit moment alleen het mooie meisje met de rode krullen die helemaal vooraan staat belangrijk. Dan voel ik dat het moment nadert. Nadat we en aantal nummers hebben gedaan is het zover. “Tonight is a special night.” begin ik. “Because there’s a special someone in the room” mijn ogen zoeken die van haar. “And I want to sing this song for her, so Emily, this one’s for you!” Ik zie haar ogen groter worden. Dan begint de muziek en zet ik in.
