101th birthday
Today it’s my 101th birthday, but I don’t celebrate it anymore. Almost 96 years I am waiting until my princess awakes. My beautiful princess… I’m waiting so long, but in all this time she hasn’t wake up. I’m in a retirement home now, too old to take care of myself. I pee in my pants, my teeth are gone… I’m old.
My clothes grew shabbier with the time and I don’t look as handsome as I was. I became desperately from the waiting and the other elderlies were gravely worried about me. My face is stained and full of wrinkles. The only good thing about me is my hearing. My hearing is very well and I hear the boisterous music and laughing of the other people. My vision is a bit bad, but I can live with it. I see the fake flowers, which are blossoming profusely in their vases, even if you know they’re fake.
Back to me. I’m sitting on the bed of my princess, looking down and sad. The other people are celebrating my birthday, but like I said, I don’t do that. I really don’t know what to do, the only thing I could do, was waiting and waiting. “Are you sure you don’t want to drink a few bottles of bear? Or eat some piece of cake?” a nurse asks me. “No, for the thousandth time, I don’t need anything”, I say petulantly. She puts her hands in the air, hopeless, and she goes to the other people.
Suddenly my heart begin to fail. I suffer, I feel the pain, but I’m holding on firmly. “Help…”, I ask silently and a nurse sees me collapsing on the floor, holding my hand on the place of my heart. “Oh my God, he’s dying!” someone shouts and I see black spots dancing before my eyelids. The only things I notice, are the people sitting in shock and nurses who are trying to reanimate me. Eventually, I see my princess opening her eyes, while mine were closing. She gets daintily up and come towards me. “Sleep, my prince and thank you for giving your life for me…”, she says and then my eyes closed forever…
