File one Katarina’s journey to past and future

Timber was thrilled to see me and gladly wanted to give us a lift. We spend the night with the three of us in Danny’s room, got proper breakfast and we left. Percy and I sit in the back of the pick-up with Danny and two other lumberjacks. The pegasi are following us from a distance in the sky. “So Kat what have you been up to the last three years?”: Danny asks. “Well the usual, school, archery, hunting and camping with dad and hanging with friends”. “So no super Kat like adventures?”: he asks. “Kat like adventures?”: Percy asks. “Yeah she never told you. This girl always got herself in the most crazy and dangerous situations”: says Danny. “That’s sounds quite familiar”: Percy mumbles. “Shut up Jackson”: I say and stomp his shoulder. “Hey”, and I get one back. Then we stop, “Are we there already?”: Percy asks. “No girly just lunch break”: says Timber who came out of the car. Percy growls soft, he really can’t stand all the girl talk. I get out of the pick-up and together with Percy and Danny we walk in the dinner behind Timber. “Timber going back already”: says the woman behind the counter. “Hey Molly the same as always but plus two extra”: Timber says and we all take a seat on a barstool. Percy wobbles nervous on his. “What’s wrong?”: I ask him in Greek. Surprised he looks at me. “What did I say something stupid”, “No I just thought you were bad at Greek”. “There are a few things I can June thought me that this was an important sentence”: I say. “Okay sounds like something Juniper would do”. “Now why act so nervous”: I ask softly. “Just the last two times I got free meals it ended not that well”: he mumbles. “But these are mortals what can go wrong”: I say.

Then Molly serves our food, I take a hand of fries and stuff them in my mouth. Molly looks at Percy and me and smiles creepy when she sees us eating which gives me the creeps. I stop and lean a bit over the counter to see two snake tales instead of legs. “What can go wrong right”: says Percy, “Shut up Jackson”. Why can’t we have a trip without bumps. Iron curtains shove over the windows and door everybody else eats like nothing is going on. “The ssson of the sssea I thought I sssmelled ssseafood when you walked in”: hisses Molly. “I heard great ssstoriesss about Poissseidonsss ssson”. “Well and now you can experience one”: Percy says and holds up a pen. Sceptic I look at him, “Serious a pen Jackson”. Percy takes of the top and it becomes the sword that gives me the creeps. “Okay I take that back, very useful”. Molly comes our way and we get up as soon as I stand I feel hazy. “What was in that food”: Percy mumbles. “Something not okay”: I say back and fall to my knees. “Kat stay on your feet you find a way out and I take care of snake lady”: says Percy. He takes a step towards Molly but also falls down. “I will never eat a free meal ever”: Percy says and blacks out then I black out too.

When I wake up Percy and I are tied together above a bowl boiling water. “You two would be ssso nice in sssome sssoup”: hisses the snake women who stands in the doorway from the kitchen. “Is this how your quests normally go?”: I ask. “Pretty much”: Percy answers. “SSStop talking you two”: hisses Molly. “What are you actually?”: I ask. “She is a dracanae”: Percy answers. “Nice to know”. A little bell sounds and Molly looks up. “You to ssstay quite I have to feed sssome cossstumersss”: she hisses and disappears. “Now what Annabeth mostly came with the good plans”. “And what did you do”. “Most of the time I have no idea what I am doing but it works”. “Well than we have to think of something”: I mumble and look around. While thinking I wobble around with my feet which makes us swing. “That’s it”: Percy says. “What?”: I ask. “We swing ourselves loose like in the movies”. “We can always try”. And so we start swinging harder and harder until the robe snaps and we fall on the floor next to the bowl. “It worked”: I say and get on my feet again. “You had doubt then”: he says with a smirk. I take our weapons from the table and carefully with weapons ready we walk back into the restaurant. Molly is on the other side of the restaurant just putting two plates down. “Enjoy”: she hisses and walks back towards us. Her way of walking is a combinations from slithering and walking. “How did you two get out”: she hisses angry and moves towards us. “First plan still counts”: Percy says and I nod. “Explosives would be nice right now”: I mumble and get an arrow out my quiver. I point it at the door but it bounces off. While Percy fights the snake lady he tries his best not to touch anybody. I look around somewhere must be a control for those iron curtains. Percy flies against me and we both smack against the wall and land on a table. “Auw”: we both mown and I get off him. I point an arrow at her but she smacks it away. “Percy give me your sword”. “What why”: he asks. “I have a plan”: I shout, the women is almost halfway towards us. He gives me his sword and I put it on my bow like an arrow. “Percy run there when I say it”, I point at the place he has to run to with my bow. “Okay”. “One, two, three, now”: I shout turn back to the dracanae and let go off his sword. Because Percy started running the dracanae looked at him and didn’t noticed his sword, which impales her. She looks angry at me and explodes in yellow dust. “Good aim Kat”: Percy says. “Thanks now pull that leaver and let’s pretend nothing happened”. “Yep”. Percy pulls the leaver and the iron curtains go away again, quick we both sit down again but we don’t touch the food and eat a bit bread out off my backpack.

When Timber finished everything on his plate he stands up again. “Let’s go on the road again we have still two hours to drive”. Percy and I get up quick and we’re the first back to the pick-up. “Best food ever, right Kat”: Danny says. “Yeah it was great”: I lie and get in the back with Percy’s help. We both are in a bit of pain from the slam against the wall. The rest of the trip we are quite and just sit there watching the road. “We are here. Grassland”: shouts Timber from the front. “Great thanks for the ride Timber”: I say and jump out the pick-up. “Don’t you need a lift back?”: Danny asks. “No we will find our way home”: Percy says. “Was nice to see you again Kat”. “Same and don’t cut the wrong trees”: I say as Percy and I walk off into the woods. When we are far enough into the wood the pegasi land in front of us. “Hey Brody had a nice flight”: I say and give him a piece of the apple I also brought with. He makes a sound that sounds happy. “He thanks you for the apple Kat”: Percy says. “No problem you flew a long flight. And you too Blackjack”: I say and give him also a piece. “Now what?”: Percy asks. “Maybe I can help with that?”: says a voice behind me. When I turn around I see a girl literally splitting from the cave wall when she is fully loose she walks our way. “Who or what are you”: I say and get my bow ready. “I mean you no harm Huntress in training, I come in peach. I am Céva an oread”: she says. “That’s a mountain nymph right”: Percy asks. “Yes also valleys and caves, we are associated with Artemis allot”. She looks at me like I am some sort of saint and somehow it feels comforting. “I am Katarina and this is Percy we are travelling to Gwaii Haanas National Park we were flying but we got shot out of the sky by Zeus and now we are walking”: I say. “Percy the son of Poseidon?”: she says surprised. “That’s me”: Percy growls. “When Zeus blasted us from the sky he also changed Percy into a girl”. “That explains the dark aura around you”: she mumbles, “Artemis speaks highly of you, you must be a great men because she despises men”. “I just was myself when I saved her and Annabeth with the help of friends ofcours”: Percy says. “I think I can help but we have to wait for the full moon to come out. We could have food and drinks in my cave”. “Waiting for the full moon”: Percy sighs. “It’s a full moon on Monday”: I mumble and follow Céva into her cave. “Is this cave the same to you as a tree for a dryad?”: I ask. “In some ways it is only I don’t die if it gets destroyed”. “You called me Huntress in training why?”: I ask her. “You didn’t said the oath to Artemis yet, I can see that too in an aura”. “Aha”: I mumble. “It’s sad Artemis visited me three days ago, she used the underground tunnel that starts in my cave to go to Glacier National Park Montana”: says Céva. “Well three days ago I didn’t even know about demi-gods and what so ever”: I say. “Seriously?”. “Yep we only left Saturday and she fell into camp Friday afternoon”: Percy says. “But it’s Monday afternoon”: Céva says.

“What?”: I shout. “I think that dracanae hold us longer than we thought”: Percy says. “Must have been the food or something”: I mumble. “That’s possible some say with the right tools a dracanae can bend time”: says Céva. Céva puts some plates with berries and other forest fruits on the table and gives me and Percy a cup tea. “Thanks”: I say as I take some fruit. “No problem I hardly have ever guests. And hardly they bring pegasi Greece most beautiful creatures”: she says and looks dreamy at the horses. Percy starts laughing, “Is their ego satisfied now?”: I ask, he nods. “O yes that’s true you can talk to horses”: Céva says and looks interested at Percy. “He said nothing special he was just flattered by the complement you made”: Percy says trying not to laugh. After the food, Céva made us some bed and we take naps. In my dream I get the feeling I need to wake up so I do. The first thing I reach for is my bow but when I see the moonlight shining into the cave I knew what that feeling meant. I kick Percy softly he growls at me but opens his eye. “Moons out”: is all I say to get his attention. Céva walks the cave in. “I prepared everything for the ritual, are you ready Percy”: she says. Percy doesn’t know how fast to get up and because of that he trips and falls down again. “Come on tiger time to change back in a boy”: I say and help him up. “Céva is there something I can do?”: I ask her. She comes closer and whispers so Percy can’t hear: ”Pin him to the ground with your arrows I know he can’t get loose then. He needs to stay still for the ritual to complete”. “I can do that”: I say and get my quiver and bow. Outside on the ground are little fires burning, flowers and roots lie in the shape of the boy sigh and Céva holds a bowl of water that smells like a mix of herbs. “Percy please lie down in the circle”: says Céva and when he lies she nods at me. Let’s get this over with.
