Without a sound she left the room, like she did every evening. She knew Cole wouldn't like it, but right now, she didn't care. She just couldn't take it any longer. She tiptoed through the long corrider, her bare feet toutching the cool, stone floor with every step she took. Within a few seconds she reached the window and opened it, breathing in the fresh air as if she hadn't done so for years. Which was exactly how she felt. She felt prisoned in her own body, living a life she didn't want- not anymore.
But she knew she couldn't go back. She knew she couldn't forget about everything that happened, no matter how much she wanted to. She knew she was lost. Everyone had been right, she wouldn't make it. She should have listened when she didn't and she should have stayed when she left. Right now it was to late, and she would never be able to fix her mistakes and make up for her wrong choices.
With one last look at the man in the bed, she slipped out of the window, climbing down the tree next to it. She placed one foot for another, and began, still with bare feet, her daily evening stroll. She didn't look forward nor did she look behind. She just continued walking, for she knew where she started and where she would end. It didn't matter which way she would go or which route she would walk. She would go in circles either way. She would end where she started and it wouldn't matter how she got there..
Because she wouldn't know. She was terribly lost, and she would never be able to find the path she was looking for again, at least not on her own.
And on her own she was..
