File one Katarina’s journey to past and future

With my wrist and ankles in a thin layer of tape and bandage which Connor and Travis got for me form somewhere, full quiver and bow on my back am I ready to play this capture the flag game. My dad is standing next to me. “So you’re a demigod”: I say. “Yes I thought you knew”. “How?”: I ask. “With all the monsters we fought while camping or hunting”: dad says. “Those where Greek monster”. “You mean you couldn’t see through the mist”: asks my dad now. “I don’t even know what you mean by that”. Quick my dad explains me what mist is and what is does to humans also he tells me about celestial bronze. “Wait Lucas sword was half bronze which didn’t hurt me and half silver which made this cut”: I say and point to my left hand. “Mm”: mumbles my dad, “I think your right you are no demigod but you belong in this world somehow. But I think you have to find that out on your own. How about you stay here for the summer and after we see further”. “Okay just the summer”: I say, dad smiles and hugs me. “I see you later, sweetie”: he says and walks off. My dad just left when June is coming my way while I wait for the rest of the Hermes campers to get their armour on. “Kat how is your back? Are you ready to fight? Watch out for the Ares campers and listen to Percy and Annabeth they are your team captains”: she chatters on. “June I am fine and I am going to be fine everything will turn out great”. “You sure of that this is not just a game you can get hurt”. “I know but it’s not like this is my first battle and I know what I am doing”. “Where is your armour?”: June asks. “Don’t need one it will only slow me down”. Than a horn sounds through the camp. “Good luck and don’t get hurt again”: June says while she hugs me really tight. “Let’s kick some butt”: shouting Connor and Travis who come last out of the cabin and start walking towards the woods. June disappears again and I walk after the boys. “Ready new girl?”: asks Travis. “Jep bring it on”. “That’s the spirit”: says Jack who walks next to me. “This time we will beat team Ares & Co”: says Chris. “If Percy and Annabeth have a better plan than last time”. “It’s more if they finally agree on something”. I lost where they were talking about and look at the woods we walk towards. There are two groups how both keep getting bigger, there is one with a red flag and one with a blue one. That’s where we are walking towards. Percy is standing in front of the blue group with a blond girl in bronze armour next to him, that must be Annabeth. Connor and Travis walk to the front while the rest of the group stands still but I walk after the boys to the front. I guess that the people in front of Percy and Annabeth are also counsellors. “So what is the plan this time?”: Travis asks. Percy looks cranky to Annabeth and nods. “Her”: she says and points towards me. That explains Percy’s look I don’t think we are going to be good friends. “Me?”: I ask with a smile. “Yes a new mind, new idea’s perfect for a new strategy”: explains Annabeth. “I am Annabeth daughter of Athena by the way”: she says and she sticks her hand out. “Katarina but you can call me Kat, daughter of I have no idea who”, and shake her hand. “We have the north side of the river this time and we have to hide the flag somewhere”: says Percy then.

“Everybody here”: shouts Annabeth so loud that everybody can her it and as answer people shout excited back. Percy and Annabeth turn around and start walking when the horn sounds again. The red group also starts moving but to the south side of the river. At an open space we stop walking and Percy and Annabeth start giving orders about attack defence and double defence, whatever that may be. It comes down on me, the Nike campers, Connor and Travis to guard our flag. At my recommendation Percy hangs the flag in plain sight and everybody splits to do their task. “Now what?”: I ask. “Hide and wait”: says Irina one of the Nike demigods. “Okay”. Everybody hides in the bushes around the tree except me, I climb in the tree and sit down on a branch above the flag. It’s not long before I hear swords striking together in the distance but also footsteps getting closer. I span my bow and wait calm for what is coming. The bodybuilder girl comes through the bushes, followed by the mister D clone, a girl with black hair and two other Ares campers. “Attack”: shouts Rocky one of the Nike camper. Everybody jumps up and starts fighting with each other. Connor and Travis jump on the Ares bodybuilder girl where I don’t know the name from, while Irina fights with the black hair girl who looks to control the plants around her, Demeter camper. The mister D clone fights with Logan a Nike camper who is stuck in wine vines but cuts them away. The two Ares campers fight Duncan and Mike the last two Nike campers. The bodybuilder girl knocks Connor and Travis from her back and the lie unconscious on the floor. Logan has the clone spiked on his clothes on a tree only he has a leg wound that prevents him from moving further, Irina and the Demeter girl both lie bleeding on the floor. The two other Nike campers defeated the Ares campers and now charge the bodybuilder girl. She notices them and swings at them with her javelin, the javelin looks to electrocute them and the fly back. The girl laughs and walks towards the flag. I aim and shoot right in the nose of her shoe so she is stuck to the ground. She takes another step and I also spike that foot to the ground. “Who did that”: she growls dangerous and tries to get loose. “I did and why do you wear shoes that are to big in battle?”: I ask while I jump out of the tree. “The new kid”: she growls again her eyes look like they are on fire. She swings at me with her javelin but I shoot it out of her hand with another arrow. Suddenly the anger disappears from her face, almost automatically I take a hunters knife from my belt and throw it behind me. When I hear a scream I turn around while I turn I shoot two more arrows. I spiked another Ares camper to the tree and my knife is in the flag which makes it stuck to the tree too.

Then everybody starts cheering and Percy and Annabeth run our camp in with the Ares flag. Meanwhile were Connor and Travis conscious again and look at the two Ares campers. “That’s impossible”: whispers Percy then I notice that everybody watches me instead of the spiked Ares campers. I follow Percy’s look which is above my head. There I see a silver stag jumping around my head. That’s the sign of Artemis but that is impossible. When it disappears I look around the open space first thing that catches my eye is Chiron who looks at me like I am something he has never seen before. And that says something for somebody from three thousand years old. “Can somebody free me”: grumbles the Ares bodybuilder girl dangerous and everybody stops with staring at me and looks at her. Confused I take a step backwards and first free the guy I spiked to the tree. Then I walk carefully to the girl and pull the arrows out her feet. This is something that always happens, I am the only one who can retrieve my arrows how hard you even try you can’t even break them. Quick I take a step back when I freed her immediately she walks off followed by the other Ares camper. While Chiron sends everybody to their cabins I feel completely confused and lost. I hear something behind me and turn around. I see something silver for a second and can catch an arrow just in time before it would have hit me. I put the arrow in my quiver and turn around where only Percy, Chiron, Annabeth, Grover and Juniper still stand. “Oh my Gods Kat that was nerve wrecking”: says June and hugs me tight. “I thought Artemis didn’t had kids because of her internal maidenhood”: is the first thing I say again. “Katarina let’s go to the big house there is something we should tell you”: says Chiron and looks at Percy. Grover and Annabeth share a worried look and June stops with crying on my shoulder and lets me go. In silent she walks to Grover, together they walk into the wood, Annabeth and Percy walk after Chiron and I walk after them. On our way to the big house is everybody who is still outside of his / her cabin staring at me when I walk by. At Artemis her cabin I stand still now it glows silver like Apollo’s cabin was glowing gold this afternoon. The cabin has something mystical just like my necklace. Then I remember it and get it out of my pocket. It shines just as bright as the cabin and my bow and arrow set. Something tells me there is more to this story than we know. And I know in my heart that I am nor Artemis her first human child nor a demigod.
