[SA] The morning rain
He softly touched her cheek, gazing into her green eyes. The eyes that always sparkled, the eyes that always said a thousand words. The eyes that he loved. He felt how her breath gently stroked his skin, sending a million shivers down his spine. He wrapped his arms around her, like he never wanted to let her go. He wanted to protect her from everything that could hurt her. Against all the problems and people that were causing them. Oh, how he wished that he would never see her cry.
She meant the world to him. He loved every little thing about her. The way she spoke with that soft voice, her cheeky smile when she looked at him, how she looked when she just rolled out of bed and he even loved the way how she was grumpy when something didn’t turn out the way she wanted to.
He loved her.
‘Let’s dance in the morning rain’ she whispered as she looked him in the eyes. The cheeky grin on her face made him smile as she grabbed his hand and led him outside. As soon as they were outside, he felt the thousands raindrops on his skin. Again he held her, held her in his strong arms. And so they danced. They danced in the morning rain.
Suddenly he woke up, feeling like someone had just smashed something heavy against his head. The sweat dripped down his forehead, leaving a trace on his face. He was scared to look next to him, knowing what would be there. Or what wouldn’t be there. She was gone. His best friend, the love of his life passed away a week ago, and he could do nothing to bring her back. He had let her down.
A single tear fell from his face, falling like the morning rain.
