Hanna is a 15 year old girl, she hasn't got any friends and is kind of a loner. She's a very smart girl and even though she's good looking; brunette and blue eyes, no one wants to be friends with her everyone just hates her.
She plays piano to deal with her emotions since she gets bullied, but when Elijah comes in her life, everything changes.

Elijah is a 15 year old boy, who just got new in town, he moved from California to Birmingham, he's the only American in school and people laugh at him because of that. But one girl treats him different, Hanna she's a sweet and beautiful girl but he doesn't know she's in love with him, would it affect their relationship ?

Claire is a 16 year old girl, who turns out to be Hanna's bully, she hates her because Claire thinks she's perfect, she looks like a model but Hanna is just an insecure girl, that thinks the total opposite. in the end, after Claire heard Hanna's story, they become friends, at least they chilled out a bit.

Jane is 14 years old and a classmate of Hanna's, she's nice to her but doesn't know if they are friends or not Hanna is Jane's example they become friends, so Hanna Jane and Elijah are a friendgroup.
