Chapter 9
Greg Lestrade
'What did you tell her Mycroft?"
"Who?" Mycroft asked, but Lestrade could tell that he knew exactly what he was talking about.
"To the lady behind the reception desk."
"Nothing special."
"Come on Mycroft I wanna know, how come John was allowed to see Hamish after you said something to her?"
"I simply asked her if her husband was aware of the fact that she is having an affair with her boss."
"What, how? Oh whatever..."
Mycroft smiled at Greg, he always liked it when his husband didn't understand what he was talking about.
When they arrived at the door of room 221 John froze and he didn't open the door, he just stood there.
"What is wrong John?" Lestrade asks him, John shrughs and tears fill his eyes.
"It will be okay John, Hamish will be fine." Mycroft says.
Greg puts his arm around John's shoulders and together they walk into the room of Watson's son.
John Watson
All his life -even before Hamish was even born- John had been afraid of this moment.
He always knew that he was going to have children, in some way he would.
And he had always been afraid that if he ever had a child, something would happen to them.
The moment he first held Hamish he promised to himself and to God that he would kill the person that would cause harm to his son.
But right now there was nothing he could to, if he wanted to avenge what had happened to his son he needed to kill himself or Hamish.
Because he should've taken better care of his son after Sherlock died and in a way it is also Hamish' fault, he put himself into this.
There is no one else to blame.
"It is my fault." Greg says, as if he had heared John's thoughts.
John looks up, into the eyes of Lestrade; he meant what he had said.
"It is not Greg, it is my fault."
"I should've not have let him go that night he came to visit me, he was so distracted and hurt by what I had told him."
"It's not your fault Greg, you thought he was going home. He should've gone home." Mycroft says.
John is hurt by this, he is the only person to tell his son that it was wrong to not come home, no one else.
"It is my fault Mycroft, don't you dare to blame Hamish."
"Sorry John, I'll leave you two to be then." Mycroft said, looking fiercely at Greg who understood the hint and followed his husband outside.
"That wasn't smart to say such a thing Mycroft..." Greg whispered when he closed the door behind his back.
"It wasn't a smart thing to do Hamish, you know that?"
"I know dad..."
"Hamish you're awake!" John cries out in surprise.
"I am..."
Hamish' voice sounds hoarse and there are tears in his eyes.
"I am so sorry Hamish, I really am... I should've answered all of your questions. I should've saved your father, when I had the chance..."
"It is not your fault dad, please don't blame yourself. I can't loose you too..."
"You won't Ham, I promise; you won't..."
Hamish closes his eyes again, John sits back in the uncomfortable chair and he notices how his son falls asleep.
~John Hamish Watson
"John!"
"Shut up Sherlock, Hamish is asleep!"
The look in Sherlock's eyes softened as he thought about his son
"John, I think we should move."
Now it was John's time to shout 'What?!'
"The boy's asleep John." Sherlock said and winked playfully.
"But why Sherlock? We are fine here, right?"
"I just want something new and it would be good for Hamish to move before he starts getting attached to this place."
"I am attached to this place Sherlock, I really am."
"I know John, all the memories and such..."
"I waited three years for you to come back Sherlock, three years; right here."
"Don't play that card again John Hamish Watson, you've been blackmaling me with that ever since I got back here."
"I know Sherlock, but I just don't want to leave. This place holds a lot of memories for me and I care about mrs Hudson."
"Caring is not an advantage."
Ever since Mycroft used that sentence when Sherlock was around, he started using it every now and then; John hated it.
"Sherlock..." John said threatening, Sherlock just smiled at him.
"You are right though, that is why I asked her if she would come live with us in our new house."
"You have what Sherlock?"
"I asked her if..."
"Yeah I know what you asked her!' John interrupted him, Sherlock looked puzzled.
"But why did you ask me to repeat it again?"
John sighed.
"You don't understand do you?"
"Understand what?"
"That you should've discussed this with me."
"I am discussing this with you now, right?"
"Before you ask something to mrs Hudson Sherlock!"
"But you do want to move then?"
"What? I haven't said yes yet!" John protested.
"Body language John; body language." Sherlock said, as he kissed his husband and left the room.
