8. Paramore - We are broken

Oliver had wanted to do something drastic as soon as he saw who was standing on his doorstep. He wasn’t entirely sure what - scream, bang the door shut, kiss Percy, curse him, tell him how much he’d missed him. He did none of these things. Instead, he just stepped aside without a word, giving Percy room to step inside.
      He didn’t have a choice, really. It was cold outside, and Percy looked tired, and defeated, and Oliver still loved him far too much for his own good.
      Percy sat down on the couch in the tiny living room and Oliver was glad his roommate wasn’t home. Whatever was going to happen, it was probably better they were alone. Oliver took a seat next to Percy, watching him. A few minutes passed in silence before Percy spoke up.
      “I’m an idiot.” He cleared his throat. “He’s back and you were right all along.”
      Oliver wanted to say something, but Percy kept talking, his head turned away from Oliver.
      “They lied. The Ministry. They lied to me and I believed them. They lied to everyone and you told me so and I just didn’t see. I didn’t want to see. I’m stupid, I’m- Sorry.” Percy suddenly jumped up, startling Oliver. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have come here, I just didn’t know where else to-”
      “No.” Oliver grabbed Percy’s wrist before he could make a move for the door. “No. Stay.”
      Percy looked at him, regret clearly written on his face. “I’m so sorry,” he mumbled. “So sorry, Oliver. So, so, sorry.”
      Oliver gently took Percy’s glasses off, which were getting fogged by tears, and drew Percy as close to him as he could. Percy was still murmuring apologies and sniffled on his shoulder, but he returned the embrace. For the first time in months Oliver felt like things might be alright again.
