4. The Birthday Massacre - I think we're alone now
Look at the way,
I gotta hide what I'm doin'.
'Cause what would they say,
If they ever knew, and so we're,
Running just as fast as we can,
Holding onto one another's hand
Trying to get away into the night.
And then I put my arms around you,
And you tumble to the ground
And then I say
I think we're alone now,
There doesn't seem to be anyone around.
I think we're alone now,
The beating of your heart is the only sound.
One of the favourite pastimes of every Hogwarts student was gossiping. In the castle’s ancient hallways gossip was as vital as air, and Percy knew this. He hated it, because it made his life so much more difficult than it needed to be.
It meant they’d have to keep silent about what exactly was going on, or face the endless stream of ignorant remarks and stupid comments, whispered behind their backs. Oliver nor Percy felt ready for that, though, so there was no real choice.
It wasn’t like they had ever been completely out of the spotlight anyway. If they’d just been two random nobodies, then maybe, maybe they could have gotten away with holding hands in the Great Hall every now and then. But they weren’t nobodies. Oliver was Gryffindor’s Quidditch Captain and practically every student in Hogwarts knew his name. As Head Boy Percy wasn’t quite as popular, but just as well-known.
Therefore, the only moments they had, were quiet, private, secret. And however difficult it was in public, it still felt great to know something no one else even suspected. Those moments were perfect, but they always seemed to be over much too fast.
Het spijt me dat ik zo'n lange pauze heb laten vallen. Ik was eigenlijk een beetje vergeten dat ik hier ook nog mee bezig was. :')
