[EN] Better than Quidditch
Oliver couldn’t believe it. They had won. Merlin, they’d won, they had the Cup! In his ecstasy he barely registered who hugged him or by who he was congratulated, because the crowd was simply too large and he was still in some sort of shock. They had beaten Slytherin, they had won!
He almost crushed Harry in his embrace and kissed all three of his Chasers enthusiastically on their cheeks. Fred and George smacked him on his back and some people shook his hand. He only recognised half of them, but at the moment he didn’t really care. Everyone should know how happy he was. Oliver was pushed to the side of the group as Harry was raised high to show off the caught Snitch even better, and suddenly he was face to face with Percy.
Before the Prefect was able to utter a single word, Oliver pulled him in a firm hug. It might have taken just a little too long before he took a small step backwards, still invading Percy’s personal space. “We won, Perce!” Oliver announced proudly, over the sound of the cheering of the red and gold hurricane around them. It could have been considered a little superfluous, but it just sounded even better if he said it out loud.
Percy gave him a seldom, honest smile. “Congratulations, Oliver.”
Oliver had no idea where he suddenly found the courage he had lacked for so long, but before he could think about what he was doing he stepped forward again and pressed his lips to Percy’s. Percy didn’t hesitate for a second before responding and Oliver pulled him even closer. At that moment neither of them was aware of the bewildered looks they were attracting or of the fact Ron looked so pale no one would have been surprised if he had fainted right then, but even if they had known it probably wouldn’t have changed much about the situation. Only once they had been noticed by Fred and George and the twins were both trying to shout the hardest that they had always suspected, Oliver ended the kiss to catch his breath, be it rather reluctant. He pressed his forehead against Percy’s and stared into a pair of amused, blue eyes. If possible, his grin became even wider.
“Was that alright?” Percy asked.
“No - it was brilliant. It was - It was -” Oliver was having trouble finding words that expressed how incredibly wonderful he felt. There just didn’t seem to be anything that covered it. “It was better than Quidditch,” he eventually said, and even though he had never thought something so absurd would be possible, he meant every word.
Percy looked doubtful, so Oliver decided he urgently needed to be convinced. And what kind of argument would be more convincing than another kiss?
