[EN] Twenty things many people don't know about Percy Weasley
1. Percy had always been a very quiet child. Of all Molly’s seven baby’s, he’d cried the least.
2. As soon as he learned to read, which was around his sixth birthday, he devoured everything with any kind of writing on it. Books, newspapers, cooking instructions, Bills attempts at writing poetry to his girlfriend, roadsigns, his mothers magazines and even a French manual for a muggle television his father had bought, though he didn’t understand a word of it.
3. For all his six siblings the Sorting Hat had been completely sure of the House they belonged in, but with Percy he’d hesitated. Percy had very nearly become the only Ravenclaw in the family.
4. Because of his last name Percy was the third to last to be sorted. After him, Wood, Oliver was pronounced to be a Gryffindor as well. Oliver had sat down next to him and hadn’t even bothered with an introduction before he said: “I love Quidditch. What ‘bout you?” Percy had answered he loved books and learning and rules, but secretely he had wished he had had something more interesting to say. Oliver just shrugged, replied “cool” and started piling food on his plate.
5. From that day on, Oliver Wood was Percy’s best friend. Other people often found their friendship weird, because they seemed so different. For them it worked perfectly.
6. Percy wasn’t as boring and stuffy as most people thought. He could actually be really funny, but he only ever joked if he felt completely at ease and he wasn’t in too large a company, and that was very rarely the case at the Burrow or at school.
7. One day, Fred and George had hexed one of Percy’s essays for Arithmancy so that all the words constantly changed position. It was unreadable and it seemed like there was no countercurse, so Percy needed to rewrite the whole thing. He was up until half past four in the morning.
8. Once Oliver found out about this, he got so mad he wanted to throw Fred and George of the Quidditch team. The twins came to Percy and apologised. Percy appreciated this, but when they asked if he could put in a good word for them with Oliver he told them he already had. Ultimately Oliver calmed down and Fred and George got their positions back. Their teasing continued, but it only ever was half as bad afterwards.
9. When Percy became Prefect in fifth and Head Boy in seventh year, the first thing he did was owl Oliver, even before he went downstairs to tell his parents. Oliver had done the same thing when he had gotten the position as Keeper and later even Captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team.
10. Ginny was Percy’s favourite sibling. She was less judgmental than the others. She loved all of her bothers equally and though she could be just as rude and harsh as the rest of them, she wasn’t afraid to show her affection either. Sometimes this was just what Percy needed.
11. Percy liked being a Prefect, but he didn’t like his brothers’ teasing. Whenever he said something about it, it simply doubled, so he kept his mouth shut.
12. Percy never really loved Penelope. He had convinced himself he did and he’d even told her a few times, but it wasn’t true. Of course she was his first girlfriend and she had a special place in his heart, but he didn’t really love her.
13. That was okay though, because Penelope never really loved him either. At first she’d only kissed him to make her ex jealous. That didn’t seem to work, so she decided to give Percy a real chance, but by the time she left Hogwarts she had ended up with her ex again. Later she married a third man and she never saw the ex-ex-ex again, but she stayed close friends with Percy.
14. Percy was gay. He’d realized somewhere in his seventh year at Hogwarts and he was incredibly nervous when he came out to his family, but no one really seemed to care. They loved him nonetheless, and he loved them even more for it.
15. Percy had never wanted to have that row with his father the second summer after leaving Hogwarts. As soon as he had arrived in London with his suitcase full of things he wanted to turn back and apologise, but he was too afraid to be turned down. His father had been really mad.
16. Fred’s death had an enormous impact on Percy. He felt it was his fault and even Oliver couldn’t convince him otherwise. Also he had thought he needed a drastic change of scenery and if George hadn’t visited him then, he probably would have been living in Canada as a muggle now. They had a very emotional conversation. They never talked about it again afterwards, but Percy returned to his normal self and even George’ grief seemed a little more bearable.
17. One year after the Battle of Hogwarts Oliver kissed Percy for the first time. It was in the middle of the Quidditch pitch, right after the first match Oliver had played as Keeper in first string. Puddlemere had won and everyone around them was too busy celebrating to notice the two boys.
18. Percy had a soft spot for dogs. They reminded him of Oliver, in a way, with their big brown eyes and single-minded pursuit of their goals - a ball in the case of the dog, the Quaffle in Olivers case. Percy only chose an owl as pet because dogs weren’t allowed in Hogwarts. As soon as Percy and Oliver had their own place, they went to the shelter and adopted three strays.
19. Percy loved Oliver. To Percy this was as logical and as necessary as breathing, even though it sounded horribly cliché.
20. Oliver loved Percy. To Percy this was as strange and as wonderful as nothing had ever been to him, even after many years and many, many times of Oliver telling him so.
