It's a promise
I was never one to wake-up early but the smell of breakfast made it a little easier. Korean food was really delicious and I never want to eat anything else again. I was humming a song I heard on the radio today and zoned out a little. I worked as a translator, that meant that I had to travel a lot and my work was never the same. It was easy for me though, my Korean became fluent and English was my first language. Sometimes I had to attend business meetings and it bored the hell out of me but there were also fun things to do. Sometimes I got to meet famous people, either English speakers from other countries, or Korean celebrities. My food was ready and I walked to my couch and turned on the tv. I was well off and my job paid good so I was able to live comfortably in a pretty big apartment. The vision of Seoul was really pretty and I was happy… right?
“We worked really hard on this album so please love and support us a lot.”
I stared blankly at the screen.
It was silent in my room. I couldn’t sleep and was tired of trying so I sat up. I jumped a little when my phone started vibrating. I lazily got it and squeezed my eyes when my brain failed to understand the content written on the screen. It took a while for me to realize it was Korean.
Lee Jinki:
I made it!
My eyes widened and I started to jump on my bed. My hands trembled as I tried to reply back. I took a while to text back since I didn’t want to mess up.
Park Hana:
Whaa! Congratulations!!!
I’m so happy for you.
I’ll visit you when you’re famous kekeke
Lee Jinki:
Promise??? kekeke
Park Hana:
Of course! It's a promise.
Onew's POV:
“Hyung! Be careful, the weather forecasting says there will be a snowstorm.” The maknae looked at me from the couch as I was dressing myself to go outside. “Don‘t worry, I have my phone with me so I‘ll call if there is something wrong.” I said and continued to make sure I won’t catch a cold. The weather has been extremely cold lately and the streets were covered in snow. “I‘ll go back as soon as I can.” I closed the door behind me and made my way out of the dorm. The cold weather had a positive side. Because of the many layers of clothing, no one recognized me and I could peacefully go grocery shopping. When I got outside I could barely see anything. Just like Taemin said, there was a snowstorm going on. It wasn’t that heavy but something told me to be quick and head home as soon as I could. We were lucky to have a small grocery store a few streets away. I reached the store and brushed the snow of my clothes. We finished our schedules early today so most members were sleeping. Our guest appearance at the radio was cancelled. It kind of bothered me because it meant less money but we could use every minute of free time we had to rest. I quickly grabbed all the things I needed and paid. When I went outside, the snow was falling harder than ever and the wind made it actually hurt when it touched your skin. The streets were almost empty and it was impossible to drive a car. I’ve never walked so slow in my life before, step by step. When I almost couldn’t see anymore I decided to look for shelter. I found a small bus shelter with a bench and sat down. The falling snow was scary but also mesmerizing. I sat there for a while when a figure approached me and I could soon identify it as a girl.
Hana’s POV:
So I was supposed to go to the office where I would pick up my papers.
The thing is… I don’t own a car or a bike, the busses stopped because of the storm and it was too far for me to walk. And I found that out when I was already outside and covered in snow. Seriously, I was a walking snowman. It was frustrating and I was glad I wrapped myself in clothing. Nonetheless, the snow decided to be a bitch and I felt as if it slipped right trough my clothes. I put my scarf up so only my eyes were visible but the snow blew in my eyes. Hell I didn’t even know where I was anymore. And when I fell in the snow with my face down, I knew that I probably should look for a place to shelter. Thank god a random bus shelter plopped up out of nowhere in the sea of white. The snow was coming above my ankles and I looked really stupid walking. I almost did a victory dance when I reached the shelter but I didn’t, because there was another person sitting there. “Is it alright if I sit here?” I asked politely. I didn’t know if it was an ajusshi, because those can be really grumpy. “Of course.” I bowed a little as I quietly thanked him. His voice was muffled by his jacket, but I could hear that he wasn’t that old.
I shivered a little and looked at the raging snow in front of me. “It looks like we‘ll be stuck in here for a while.” I looked beside me and the strange man was looking outside. He wore a cap over his head and his jacket was covering his mouth and a part of his nose. “I think so… I was supposed to pick up work though…” I could feel that he looked at me. “Same here, but I don‘t mind a day off.” I smiled at him and nodded. “Ah, you have an eye smile!” I frowned and looked at him for an explanation. “It means that when you smile, your eyes take a different shape.” I thought about it for a while. “I‘ve never heard of it… Is it a good thing?” “I think it is.” He looked at me and I could tell he was gently smiling at me. “Oh! You also have an eye smile!” I heard him chuckle. Then I looked at his bag. “Are stores even open right now?” I asked without really thinking, he made me feel comfortable. “The lady of the shop told me she would close after me, so I‘m lucky.”
Onew’s POV:
We went silent for a while. I started rubbing my hands and blowing hot air on them. I started to get cold because I wasn’t moving. “You can have mine.” I looked at the girl as she was handing me a pair of gloves. “N-no I‘m okay. Your hands will get cold.” She shook her head and pushed the gloves in my hands. “My sleeves are long so I can wrap my hands in there.” I thankfully accepted the gloves. I looked at her face, she was really pretty. The scarf she was wearing was loosened so now I could actually see her whole face. I didn’t notice I was staring when her eyes met mine questionably. I quickly looked away and put on the gloves. They were big enough for my hands and they were still warm. “So… how old are you?” I asked after a while. “Hmmm…I‘m 22 in international age. ” I was taken back by her weird way of saying her age. Most Koreans would’ve said 24... 24... Wait.. “Asa! We‘re the same age.” Her eyes lit up. “Really? You were also born in 1989?” I nodded. “Then…” She was thinking of a way to tell me but I knew what she meant. “Should we be comfortable with each other? Like... informal?” She nodded. I could see that she was a little excited. “What is your na-” I was stopped by my phone vibrating. “Hold on a second.”
Hana’s POV:
Who would’ve thought I would meet an extremely nice guy of the same age as me in a bus shelter? He was about to ask me something when his phone went off. “Hold on a second.”
I nodded and waited patiently. When I looked outside I noticed It wasn’t storming that hard anymore. The snow was now peacefully falling from the grey sky. I heard the guy talk on the phone with some one. “I‘ll go back now. I‘ll be there in a few minutes…. Yes…. Yes I bought the banana milk you wanted. Yes, okay. Bye.” He hung up and looked at me. “I need to go back.” I nodded. “I should go too.” we both stood up and he handed me my gloves. I shook my head. “Keep them, I have an extra pair at home.” I smiled at him when he looked thankful. We stood there awkwardly for a second. “Uhm.. Can I… Maybe have your number?” I was a little surprised but then nodded. We exchanged numbers and then I bowed lightly. “It was nice talking to you.” I said. “Yeah, see you later.” I waved at him and walked home. Even though the snow wasn’t falling as fast as it was before, it was still difficult to walk. When I finally reached home I took a hot bath to warm up. I frowned when I looked at my phone and saw that the guy I just met had put his name as ‘That Handsome Guy’.
Onew’s POV:
“I‘m back!” I heard footsteps in the hallway and Taemin plopped his head around the corner. “Hyung! You were gone for so long.” I took of my shoes and walked further down the hall. I took of my jacket, scarf, cap and the gloves. “Hyung, I didn‘t know you owned pink gloves?” Taemin smiled at the color. “I didn‘t.” He frowned. “Then whose are they?”
I smiled. “A really kind girl gave them to me.”
