The loud and deep sound of the frightening thunder woke me up and made my house shake. I sat straight up in my bed and counted the seconds so that I could know how far away the thunder was. After two seconds a big, white flash stopped me counting the seconds. It was right above me. I gasped when I hear another deep thundering sound with the lightning quickly following. Curious as I am, I got up from my bed and walked towards my window. Slowly and carefully I opened one of my curtains and looked at the horror caused by the lightning.
My left neighbors house and both our backyards were on fire. I knew I had to run out of my house to somewhere safe but I didn't. I couldn't. I knew I wouldn't make it to our public hiding place, which was just outside town under the ground - I had this feeling that I would be dead before I was out of the street. I know I'll be dead too, if I just keep on watching how the wold will end, from my bedroom's window. But it's okay. I didn't care anymore. I knew I would die in a few moments and I wanted to die in a place where I had experienced me entire childhood and the best days of my life.
A knocking sound woke me up from my thoughts and I hesitated before I said that it was okay to come in. I did not turn to see who it was, because I knew the persons were my parents. The two best people in the world walked towards me and grabbed my hands. I felt how my mum's thumb touched my face n with that touch, I found out that I was crying.
"I love you." my dad whispered and he pulled me and my mum close. "I love you two too." I whispered back with a raw voice and started to cry again.
I looked up and bit my lip when I saw that both of my parents were crying. They looked back and pulled me close again. Big, salty tears rolled over my cheeks as if my eyes were the beginning of a waterfall.
"We'll meet again soon, sweetheard." my mom said and she kissed my forehead. "I promise.."
