I took them carefully and gave them to him, as he pointed to one pocket. I dived my hand into it and caught a dark blue wrapping. I gave it to him. “Help me sit up straight, please.” His hoarse voice said, and I did. His face was almost in level with mine and he looked me deep in the eye as he spoke, more clearly and confidently than I heard him speak before.
“I will accept vampirism… For both yours and my sake… But I want to ask you something… And now seems like the only chance… I will ever get to ask you…” He unwrapped the blue wrapping and showed me a black velvet box. He opened it in front of my eyes and they almost jumped out of my eye sockets. A tiny ring was in it, a delicate, small red flower form in the middle of it, and next to it, two silver leaves, facing away from each other and the part that would hold it to my finger was in the shape of curly vines. I gasped.
