Chapter Five

ZOË POV
Zoë couldn’t move. She was frozen. That man in that car. He wasn’t, he couldn’t be, no way he was that same man. He would be stupid to be still around here. She thought. “Zoë? Are you okay?” Amy asked. “Zoë, hello I’m talking to you.” Amy tugged at Zoë’s arm. Zoë looked up and saw her friend standing in front of her. “Wha.. What did you say?” “Zoë are you sure you are okay? This is like the second time this morning you totally zoned out.” Amy asked. “Yeah, ehm, yeah, I’m fine. I just thought I saw someone..” “Who, did you though you saw?” Amy asked. “Ehm.. no never mind. I just think my mind is playing games with me or something. I just didn’t sleep well that’s all.” Amy eyed Zoë suspicious, but then shrugged and dragged Zoë inside of the school.

“We so have to go shopping for the perfect party dress and shoes and make-up and everything you know!” Amy jumped enthusiastic next to Zoë. “Ehm.. yeah sure we can go.. ehm.. do that or something” Zoë mumbled. “Seriously Zoë who did you think you saw back there? You’ve been distracted the whole morning now. You haven't even ate anything. And lunchtime is almost over.” Amy sighed. “Just talk to me”. “I know I’m sorry Amy. I just.. Okay.. I just thought I saw ehm.. that guy from you know.. The one who.. I don’t know.” Zoë looked up at Amy who looked at her worried. “Zoë, you think you see that guy around this time every year. Remember that guy last year at the mall? You were positive it was him and we followed that guy around the entire mall. Like some spies. I understand it’s hard and all, but you have to let this thing go. You and I both know that guy is gone. And he will be pretty stupid if he decided to come back here. Because his portrait was all over the news back then and people will recognize him.” Amy hugged Zoë tightly. “Let’s go shopping tonight, okay? Find some distraction”. Zoë blinked a couple of times to hold back the tears and looked at Amy. “Yeah.. I guess you’re right. Let’s go to class.”
