A 4-year-old’s sisterly advice to “toughen up” was a loving lesson for her younger brother — and has struck a chord with online viewers.
The video, uploaded to YouTube last Tuesday, shows Delilah O’Donoghue, of the village of Balsall Common, England, sitting on a bench with her younger brother, Gabriel.
Delilah informs the 2-year-old why it’s important to listen to their parents, not spit and refrain from fights with older boys.
“You’re not old enough for that boy to ... do a fight,” the girl advises. “That boy’s older than you. Maybe he’s 9 or 10 ... or maybe 8.” She urges him to, “Think about it, Gabriel. Think about it.”

Her other pearls of wisdom include: “You’re nearly 3, you should toughen up a bit,” and, “When mum and dad said you don’t do that, you don’t do that ... and you don’t spit.” Gabriel sits there, swinging his legs and looking off into the distance.
The minute-long clip, entitled, “You need to toughen up a bit,” has been viewed more than 692,000 times on YouTube. The scene was caught on a cell phone by their father, Lee O’Donoghue, according to The Sunday Times.
His wife, Alex, told the Daily Mail that Delilah often dictates how her brother should act. “Delilah’s very bossy — it’s how little girls are, I think,” said Alex O’Donoghue, a teacher.
“She has scolded Gabriel in the past. But it is as much about trying to teach him. They are good little buddies really,” she said.
